Cleve's Top Ten Alternative 2K Songs

I'm kind of at a loss when it comes to the 2k songs.  I'm a big fan of the 90's music but for the 2000's I can only name my favorite bands:

Green Day
Foo Fighters
Coldplay
Dave Mathews
Jack Johnson
Offspring
Nickelback
Weezer
Nice lists everyone.

Cleve's Top Ten Alternative 2K Songs

Just for good measure/ in case anyone is interested I will post my Top 25 most played out of the ~1500 songs on my iPod.  Keep in mind that I have only had my iPod for about 6 months and I shuffle sometimes, so this isn't necessarily an accurate representation of my 25 favorite songs.  Also, this is not only within the Alternative genre, but all genres.

10 plays:
1. What is Love - Haddaway (great dance tune!)
2. Even Rats - The Slip (Indie rock)
3. Hello It's Me - Todd Rundgren (one of those songs that means a lot to me)
9 plays:
4. Yes - Coldplay
5. Daisy - Switchfoot
8 plays:
6. Fix You - Coldplay
7. You Are My Kind - Santana feat. Seal
8. How I Go - Yellowcard
9. Five Per Cent of Nothing - Yes
7 plays:
10. Yellow - Coldplay
11. Postcards from Far Away - Coldplay
12. Death and All His Friends - Coldplay (I listen to Coldplay alot I guess)
13. Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin
14. Sapphire Bullets of Pure Love - Mahavishnu Orchestra
15. The Blues - Switchfoot
16. Yesterdays - Switchfoot
17. Two Weeks from Twenty - Yellowcard
6 plays:
18. Heaven - Angels and Airwaves
19. Follow Your Bliss - The B-52's
20. Cemeteries of London - Coldplay
21. Lost! - Coldplay
22. Viva la Vida - Coldplay (wow this is even more Coldplay than I imagined.  Kind of skewed.)
23. The Seventh Day - Jan Hammer
24. The Rain Song - Led Zeppelin
25. One Of These Days - Michelle Branch
---
Just for good measure I will include my other songs with 6 plays:
Have a Cigar - Pink Floyd
Vereda Tropical - Santana
Send in the Clowns - Stan Kenton
Fields of Gold - Sting
On Fire - Switchfoot
Jump - Van Halen
Into the Lens - Yes
Onward - Yes
Yesterday and Today - Yes

Like I said, this isn't necessarily an accurate representation of my favorite songs.  Eventually, there will probably be more classic rock on the list and less Coldplay...
As the others said, feel free to comment!

Cleve's Top Ten Alternative 2K Songs

You guys (and girls?):

"Alternative" is a big genre.  On my iTunes, I have groups under the "alternative" genre that I would call jazz and groups under the "alternative" banner that I would call rock.  Although I must say, out of all the bands you mention, I have only heard of the Killers, Blue October, and the Cure, and the only song on this list I have heard is Into the Ocean by Blue October.  That's a pretty good song...
Also, the word "alternative" does not really have a set definition.  To me, "alternative" is simply everything that iTunes decided to label "alternative" that I didn't bother changing...Tongue out

I am shocked at the lack of Coldplay on this list.  Do you listen to Coldplay much?  If I created my top ten, there would probably be about 5 Coldplay songs on it.  They inspire me and the band that I am in myself.  I might also have to include Dani California by RHCP, and possibly 1 or 2 songs by Yellowcard.

Obviously, this is a matter of preference and your personality.  Maybe Coldplay doesn't have the same effect on any of you that they do on me.  I personally can't see how you can watch this music video and not be touched and inspired: .  But I guess that's just what I think.

Great job Cleve!  Maybe I should do some of this kind of thing myself!

Cleve's Top Ten Alternative 2K Songs

LMAO!!!!  Sorry buddy.  Afraid I'm in the same boat as PCK and Class.  Do not recognize a single group or song on that list.  Was never really sure what Alternative Music was, but I now know I don't listen to it, even by accident, since I'm a blank here.

Rok  Laughing

Sorry Cleve but I am in the same boat with Rock and pinkini I can not recall any of those songs what year are you talking about?
