Over the past few weeks, we have had about 13 “regulars” picking games on a daily basis.  With that in mind, I wanted to come up with a fair way for all of us to compete for the National Championship.  Like last year, I want to reward the top regular season players with a postseason advantage.  With that in mind:

GeoMapster has earned an AUTOMATIC bid and the #1 overall seed by convincingly finishing in first place (with and without bonus points).
BoilerBadger has also earned an AUTOMATIC bid and the #2 overall seed by finishing with the best overall pick percentage.  It is no coincidence that he finished in second place with and without bonus points.
s0merand0mdude, although he finished in sixth place, will also get an AUTOMATIC bid and the #3 overall seed by finishing with the second best overall pick percentage.

Daily Picks: 02/28 - 03/01... BIT Play-In Round

s0merand0mdude / bearcatnation: Thanks for sticking with us for the year end tournament!  All year long, we have allowed people to take the consensus picks for submitting late entries so that’s not a problem at all.  Who knows… someone might use that as a legitimate strategy.  The consensus picks don’t always do well… it really depends on the deviation on the low end.  The high end picks are usually all or nothing.

Yes – I can figure out which teams have been most reliable.  Keep in mind that the data may be significantly skewed because I “cherry pick” the games.  I will get back to you with the results…

Daily Picks: 02/28 - 03/03... BIT Play-In Round

concensus people get -21 and 64 if I'm not mistaken. That just blows.
I don't want to be given an unfair advantage over the people who had their picks on time. It was completely my fault I missed getting picks in as I had an extremely busy weekend and didnt have time to check the last few days.

Maybe it would be better if Beer just gave me the same score as the picker in last for last night's games.

Daily Picks: 02/28 - 03/03... BIT Play-In Round

NCAA Tournament Fantasy League for all you hard core guys who like to compete.

My league is real simple we are just drafting players for pts only.

I'm trying to get 10-15 teams with 10-15 players.

The draft will commence after the selection slow and go until the final 64 starts not the play in games.  You can draft a play in game player but if his team don't make it you get no pts for the tourney.  I'm thinking if you want to draft a guy from one of those games and his team losses you can switch him out with a player not drafted.

Daily Picks: 02/28 - 03/03... BIT Play-In Round

On a tangent, Beer, I have an interesting idea. Is there any way we could possibly figure out which teams have been the most reliable in the picks this year? For instance, let's say Team A has been in X amount of pick-ems. The consensus picked them to win Y times, and the total points they earned the consensus is Z. Team A's reliability would equal (Z)/(X-Y). For example, if a team was in three pick-em's, was picked by the consensus to win twice, once with a 7 confidence and the other a 10, and they lost the 7, their reliability is (3)/(3-2)=3. Could you do this with your spreadsheet, by any chance? I might do it manually if I get bored on Saturday...
Actually, the (X-Y) is probably not the best way to do the formula... Probably just (Z)/(Y) would work. That's average points per pick.
