Daily Picks: 02/28 - 03/01... BIT Play-In Round

Over the past few weeks, we have had about 13 “regulars” picking games on a daily basis.  With that in mind, I wanted to come up with a fair way for all of us to compete for the National Championship.  Like last year, I want to reward the top regular season players with a postseason advantage.  With that in mind:

GeoMapster has earned an AUTOMATIC bid and the #1 overall seed by convincingly finishing in first place (with and without bonus points).
BoilerBadger has also earned an AUTOMATIC bid and the #2 overall seed by finishing with the best overall pick percentage.  It is no coincidence that he finished in second place with and without bonus points.
s0merand0mdude, although he finished in sixth place, will also get an AUTOMATIC bid and the #3 overall seed by finishing with the second best overall pick percentage.

More information to follow...

Daily Picks: 02/28 - 03/03... BIT Play-In Round

I apoligize for not posting picks, but I didn't see this post until, like, 11:00 last night, and I was very confused. Here's my picks with the consensus inserted.

Set A:
18-San Diego State over Wyoming
17-Coastal Carolina over Gardner Webb
16-Stanford over Seattle
15-Jackson State over Arkansas-Pine Bluff
14-Valparaiso over Youngstown State
13-Texas over Kansas State
12-UNC-Asheville over Charleston Southern
11-Kentucky over Vanderbilt
10-Alabama A&M over Prairie View
9-Florida over Alabama
8-Kent State over Bowling Green
7-Florida A&M over South Carolina State
6-VMI over Winthrop
5-Detroit over Loyola Chicago
4-Coppin State over Norfolk State
3-Akron over Ohio
2-NC State over Virginia
1-North Texas over Arkansas-Little Rock

Set B:
18-Gonzaga over CSU Bakersfield
17-Ohio State over Penn State
16-Cleveland State over Illinois-Chicago
15-Northern Colorado over Idaho State
14-Liberty over High Point
13-North Carolina Central over Bethune-Cookman
12-Virginia Tech over Boston College
11-North Dakota over Chicago State
10-Wright State over Green Bay
9-Mississippi Valley State over Grambling
8-Savannah State over Western Illinois
7-Texas Southern over Alabama State
6-Notre Dame over Villanova
5-Central Michigan over Toledo
4-Purdue over Illinois
3-Missouri over Nebraska
2-Baylor over Oklahoma State
1-Morgan State over North Carolina A&T

Starting off with -6 and 38, respectively. Let's see if I can outdo the consensus on day two.

On a tangent, Beer, I have an interesting idea. Is there any way we could possibly figure out which teams have been the most reliable in the picks this year? For instance, let's say Team A has been in X amount of pick-ems. The consensus picked them to win Y times, and the total points they earned the consensus is Z. Team A's reliability would equal (Z)/(X-Y). For example, if a team was in three pick-em's, was picked by the consensus to win twice, once with a 7 confidence and the other a 10, and they lost the 7, their reliability is (3)/(3-2)=3. Could you do this with your spreadsheet, by any chance? I might do it manually if I get bored on Saturday...

Daily Picks: 02/28 - 03/03... BIT Play-In Round

Yep LAOJoe.. I was watching Kansas State-Texas game on TV.  Before I made picks, I leaned Kansas State over Texas at first, I changed it to Texas over Kansas State but not in high confident point.  Texas didn't want to see another loss and Kansas State want to secure a first round bye in conference tourney so Kansas State on road is harder than at home.  I am surprised Kansas State played well and beat doomed Longhorns even Jacob Pullen injured right wrist in late 2nd half and still playing!  He still quoted "Fear the Beard" LOL

Love the quote "PULLEN THE UPSET"??? huh?

damned.  sorry to miss out, but I lost my internet connection from home and I should not be on here from work.
In case it was not already bad enough that I don't get to see any games, now I can't even follow online.

I'll reconnect when possible.

Game on.

Damn I was going to pick SC State since they beat FL A&M convincingly at home but before today they haven't won an away game and only had 4 div 1 wins.

I think only 2 games started at 7 today. and well he is kinda forced to pick bad games to get a good amount. This is when they are interesting though.

Togneri7 - Please feel free to pick all of the remaining games (or even tomorrow's games) if you still want to play out the season... You will get the consensus picks for games in progress so there is no downside to picking the rest of the games.

Daily Picks: 02/28 - 03/03... BIT Play-In Round

This kinda sucks... looks like we only have 10 people playing for the title this year.  No picks from 3 players who had collectively picked over 1,674 games over the course of the season:

4) Togneri7: 2979 points (385-213) .684
6) s0merand0mdude: 2635 points (373-185) .714
11) apoloniaSeeker: 2140 points (331-187) .676

I had the playoff format all figured out (even posted it to LAOJoe for reivew) but will need to make some adjustments based on only 10 players.  Good luck to those of you who decided to participate...
