Ravens want Bears' 4th-rounder from botched trade

The Baltimore Ravens want the fourth-round pick they were seeking from the Chicago Bears when the clock ran out on their 26th pick in the first round Thursday night.

Bears general manager Jerry Angelo has apologized for the botched trade, and sources told The Chicago Tribune that Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti told the Bears and commissioner Roger Goodell about his displeasure with how the situation unfolded.

NFL senior vice president of public relations Greg Aiello told The Tribune in an email that, "We are looking into it." However, the league is not expected to take any official action.

The Bears and Ravens were discussing a trade that would have given Baltimore the 29th overall pick and a fourth-round pick to allow Chicago to move up three spots. The Bears wanted Wisconsin offensive tackle Gabe Carimi, who they eventually landed at No. 29 anyway.

The confusion came when Angelo said a pair of Bears staff members thought the other was phoning in the trade. The call never happened and time expired on the Ravens' pick. Kansas City was next on the clock, and jumped in to select Pittsburgh wide receiver Jonathan Baldwin. The Ravens then took Colorado cornerback Jimmy Smith, who they were believed to have been targeting in the first place, with the 27th pick.

"It was our fault," Angelo said. "They did everything according to the rules. ... We had a disconnect. Whatever you hear, Baltimore did everything right."

However, Baltimore believes it should have had Chicago's fourth-round pick based on a trade that was agreed to by both sides but botched by the Bears.

Ravens want Bears' 4th-rounder from botched trade

The only thing worse than the bears is a bear's fan!  You should stick to you what you know: being a bum, sitting on the couch, stuffing your faces with deep dish pizza and chicago dogs, and let the real men handle the comments on here!
Are you kidding me liquidvelvet2?  Coming from a Vikings fan, you are knocking the Bears and their fans? I went to school real close to Minnesota.  Your state is a complete joke. It is real boring and the beer sucks!  Your Vikings are the joke of the league. Are they going to fly Brett Favre back again this year to lead the team to defeat?  Same with the Timberwolves. They are a joke too.  I can't knock the Wild only because they beat the Dallas Stars so the Blackhawks could get into the playoffs.  Oh what the heck.  The Wild are no good too!  The only team you have is the Twins and they can't get out of the 1st round of the MLB playoffs. But I do thank you for beating the White Sox.  You only wish you had a couch and some great pizza and hot dogs to eat. Even if you do have a couch there is no reason to sit on it, because there is nothing worth watching in Minnesota!  The Bulls will be on on Monday in the NBA playoffs, maybe you and one of your mud duck friends can watch a real team play. You can borrow a couch from one of your cheese heads neighbors.  They don't need one right now either.

Ravens want Bears' 4th-rounder from botched trade

To those who say the Bears owe the Ravens something for a trade that, according to the Bears and the NFL, never officially happened:  What should the Ravens owe the Minnesota Vikings for what they did to them in the 2003 draft?  NFL did nothing then, they'll do nothing now.

Read this and then decide how badly you feel for the Ravens:

Besides, that 4th round pick is now belonging to the Redskins because the Bears traded it and their second rounder to move up to draft Stephen Paea with the 53rd pick.

How much money did it cost Jimmy Smith?  Every draft spot you drop, you make less money.  Smith is technically the 27th pick, so Baldwin will make a little more scratch and Smith will lose out on some money.   I don't hear Baltimore crying about having to pay less money.

Huh? The Bears made a trade and didn't live up to it. They even said they made a mistake. What don't you understand? Stay in school. You need it.
Are you lost, the trade was not finalized, just because the Bears didn't make the call, does not mean the Ravens needed to let time run out, they gambled and lost. They are not even close to being enititled to anything, this won't even get a second look.
