A good girl done wrong by a pervert.

The news on my homepage has shed some light on just how far society has fallen. A talented and hard working women in the sports world was violated, in a most grotesque way, and most of the comments I have read about the subject are truly showing the sad state of our itimes.

Erin Andrews is a hard working side line reporter. She is out there for what ever sport she is sent to in what ever weather they throw at her and does a great job of getting up close with the players. She is witty, fun and yes attractive. The fact that she is a women in a mostly male occupation I am sure has not been easy for her or most of the women who try to break into the sports world. I would like to think it has become easier and that the male dominated society of old is weakening. My hope is seems have been dashed today. I mean this is a women who took a baseball tot he jaw and fought to stay ont he sidelines, but was forced to go to the ER. She was right back on the sideline the very next day. Not many male athletes would have shown up for work the next day but this women did.

All of that being said, back to the point. The headline on my homepage has a story about how some pervert, yes any one one who would do this is just that, found out what hotel she was staying at, found out what room she was in and it does not stop there. This person, used lightly, then stalked Erin to find out when she would be in her room. Once she was and the door was locked , the criminal took a video camera and placed the lense against the PEEPHOLE of her hotel room. Then video taped through the hole. This disgusts me to the highest level.

I would have hoped that the story would end there with the perp being caught and going to jail, my hopes again dashed though. The perp then took the video and posted it to the internet for all the world to see. This is not a women who takes her clothes off for a living, IE Pam Anderson or any other celeb who has LEAKED video for profit, this is a hard working women who has been VIOLATED . Shame, shame.

I think, and yes I am a man, that this invasion of Erin's privacy is abhorrent. The fact that someone had to first find out what room she was in, second take the time to stalk her and see when she would be in the room and third and worst of all in my opinion, take the video while standing in a hallway, for what ever amount of time it took. How someone did not see what was happening or even better yet, when someone did why they did not say anything is beyond me. I travel a lot and I know there is always someone in the hallways and in today's society no one would say a word, shameful. I believe that a women, any women, should be entitled to a certain rights, privacy is a big one. Shame on the one that took the video and shame on any of those who view it. If Erin wanted her body to be seen, and yes I know she dresses very sexy, she is a great looking women but this does not give anyone the right to show her off, if she wanted to be seen that way she would find a venue to pose for it.

I hope that they find the perp and prosecute as well as anyone who views the video with out Erin's consent.

A good girl done wrong by a pervert.

CNN has had numerous in-depth reports about this case in the last two days.  I watched Nancy Grace two nights ago while I was on the exercise bike at the gym, and she had a "spy tech" expert on who spoke about a device to reverse the "peephole" optical properties (not keyhole.  Most hotels use electronic entry, that is true.)  They also proposed a theory that a very small hole could be drilled in a wall from an adjacent room and a tiny lens inserted through it to DVR everything.  They seemed to think that the camera motion suggested this method rather than peephole because it was very limited and apparently only vertical.  That motion also precluded a "set-up" in which Erin participated, as some have intimated. If the camera had been set up inside the room where it was obvious, the camera motion would have been much more multi-axial.  Apparently the authorities think this is a camera crew or techical staff person who did it and knew travel schedules in advance. They also indicated on the program at 5:00 PM last night that the authorities have a very good idea who did this and they are just co-ordinating with local law enforcement to "throw the book" at the perpetrator.  I suspect he will be very sorry for his stupid titillating peeping and showing of a violating video.

Ifonly...just to make one thing clear, this is not me reporting these new developments, I heard it this morning on Foxsports Radio.  Hopefully there will be more on this later in the day.

Thanks for the update brynd, as for the hotels, I stay in a lot of places over the course of my travels and they all still have the keyholes. From Marriott to the Wyndam. Key cards yes but you still need to see who is at the door.

Not sure if you all heard the latest, there are now 6 tapes, two different hotels, and the investigators are now leaning towards an inside job.  One of the best questions asked on the news was "what hotel was this that has keyholes"?  Don't all hotels now use the security scan card to enter your room?  It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

NJ that is what has me so miffed. The comments I have seen on other post are so "she flaunts it she deserves it" and it makes me wonder what kind of parental figure some of these folks grew up with.
Thank you for stopping in and I hope to see you again with a better topic.

Unfortunately this type of unpleasant activity is become more commonplace.  It speaks to a general lack of respect as well as the total disregard for a person's privacy.  Just because someone is a "public figure" I don't believe that means that their entire life (or body) should become fodder for unwitting intrusion.  There were so many people "outraged" when the government wanted to tap phone conversations of SUSPECTED TERRORISTS when National Security was at stake, yet this type of disgusting invasion of privacy is taken for granted by so many- and becomes the subject of so many people's interest.  Excellent post and many fine responses.  I happen to have a 17-year old daughter who attracts a great deal of unsolicited "attention" so I take this subject seriously.

Vespula you are most welcome welcome. I may just be old school but respecting a womens privacy is up near the top of important lessons for most to learn. Like never going in a womens purse should be on the list too. (My kids had a tough one with that one but my wife fixed them)

Thank you, thank you, thank you for saying this!  In every situation I know of in America, taking advantage of someone sexually without consent is a major crime.  And yes, "working women" does not mean we are whores!  She is a respectable sports announcer and journalist and deserves the same respect a man would get.  My Lord, if a girl can't go into her hotel room, behind locked doors and drawn curtains to change clothes or take a bath in private, where would these perverts draw boundaries?  As far as I am concerned, this guy who did the video is a rapist in training.
It will be really hard to prosecute the sorry losers who watch this violating video of her, but it would serve them right to subliminally embed a message that the viewer wants to tell Mama, his wife and his fellow workers at the next business meeting all about it and what he did afterward!

Retry thank you for you for the kind words. I am only sorry they have to come at the expense of some one else. I look forward to a day whne both sides are respectful of each other and hiding behind a screen name is not important. The day may never come but we can hope.
