VOD 03/16/09: Are You Productive?

Verse:

2 Peter 1:5-8
Make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. (NIV)

Thought:

It takes more than one verse to get this powerful message across. God wants us to be productive in our lives. He wants us to have more than just head knowledge. He wants us to put it to work in our lives and be effective and productive with it. But, we've got to put out some effort and try to grow in these qualities. Peter is saying, "Okay folks, God wants you to get after it and make a difference through your life!" Are you ready? Let's begin today.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings. Holy God, We are going to put out the effort to grow in Your grace. Please bless our efforts and receive them as our heartfelt appreciation for loving us when we were unlovable and redeeming us when we were lost. We want to be productive to Your glory in our life with Jesus.
We pray these things in the name of Your most Holy Son, Jesus the Christ…Amen.

Good morning to all. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours for a safe and blessed day.
May God Bless,
Michael

WP...

It's people like you that make it all worthwhile. It is my pleasure, my privilege, as well as my responsibility to share freely that which is given to me freely (Matthew 10:8).

Michael - I enjoyed this mornings testimony. I'm so thankful we our Creator promises to never give us more than we can handle. Even if He asks us to do something "last minute" or execute something we haven't "prepared" for.

Keep it up,

In His Name,

M

Michael,

Thank you taking the time to put-out the VOD's. I read them each day. They seem to "ground" me for the day.

My best,

wp Smile

I also have a testimony to give:

Yesterday morning I was feeling a bit under the weather. I posted the VOD and then checked my emails. I got one from Sissy and, in my reply, I made reference to Ezekiel 38:7, which speaks of being 'prepared'. I then proceeded to crawl back into bed. At 9:05 I got a call from Gerald, our Pastor, saying that he needed my help. Robert, our A/Pastor and teacher of the adult Sunday School, was down with back problems and he needed me to teach at 10:00. I couldn't say no, as the Lord was calling on me, so I crawled back out of bed to my computer. Here I was, having just made reference to Sissy about being prepared, and I didn't have the slightest idea of what I was going to teach. I sat there looking at the screen and said "Father, what am I to do?". Immediately it came to mind that I save all of the VODs; so why not print them all out and use them for the lesson? So that is just what I did and the class went very smooth. The good Lord even lifted my spirits so that I wasn't hanging off the podium as I taught. I can guarantee that from now on I'll be prepared and have a lesson ready in case I'm called upon again. Another lesson learned is that you never know when God is going to call on you. It may be inconvenient for you, but it's not for Him. Whatever He puts you through, He will help you through.

God is Good!

May God Bless,

Michael

This scripture would apply to the IRS:

Matthew 22:21 ...Then he said to them, Give to Caesar the things which are Caesar's, and to God the things which are God's.

The IRS seems to think so!
