My Favorite Red Sox Team

Posted on: June 9, 2009 2:47 pm

My Favorite Red Sox Lineup Would be:
Catcher:
Doug Mirabeli: anyone who was escorted by the police just to get the game in time to catch Wakefield must be a great player...
First Base: Jeff Bagwell
technically he never played for the Red Sox, but he went to my School, the University of Hartford so i thought i had to include him
Second Base:
Mark Bellhorn
Everyone hates Bellhorn, but noone really seems to remember/care that after he went 2 for 25 in the post-season in 2004 he broke up Mike Mussina's no-hitter in game 1, hit a three run home run in game 6 to give the sox the win 4-2, hit another home run in game 7, and then another home run in game 2 of the work series of the foul pole to win it for the sox
Shortstop:
Alex Gonzalez
he was batting around .300 like most of the Red Sox in 2003, before the whole team collapsed and missed the playoffs for the first time in a while falling behind even the Blue Jays, so we ditch one of the best fielding shortstops who could actually hit a little bit and go out and get Lugo... we all know how that particular move is going...
Third Base:
Bill Mueller is my favorite third baseben because at the time when i was 14 i thought it was funny that the Red Sox had a player that's name was the same as my dad(Different spelling) but more seriously he won the batting title in 2003 having a obscenely low batting average of .326(the pitchers must have dominanted that year) and the best part was that he was batting 7th, 8th or 9th the entire year, with that kind of lineup placement we should have seen Grady blowing the season sooner...
Left Field: Jason Bay
He hasnt been there for a while but hes the only other leftfielder that i can remember besides Manny, who i hate, so Bay brings a great deal of professionalism to the team.
Center Field: Johnny Damon
he was one of the most rediculous looking players ive ever seen and said game over to the Yankees in game 7 of the 2004 alcs when he showed yankees fans a prewiew of him abusing the short porch in both old and new yankee stadium.
Right Field:
Trot Nixon
Nixon always played with that kind of intensity that makes you hate Julio Lugo more and more everytime you think about it, he played a solid right field and always seemed to come up with the big hit, was a good player before we had to waste a bunch of money on JD Drew...
Starting Pitcher:
Pedro Martinez
In his prime he was definitely the best pitcher ive ever seen, we all remember the 99' All Star Game
Reliever Rich Garces
more famously known as El Guapo, he was always a joy to hear from and watch pitch because he was always such a happy fellow
2nd Reliever
Byung-Hyun Kim
in 2003 he was the Red Sox Closer for a little bit, and for the most part he was successful, but the amount of nerve he caused from his delivery and eratic throwing caused panic in every Red Sox fan
3rd Reliever
Mike Timlin
My real favorite reliever was Mike Timlin, he is most likely one of the best middle relievers in MLB history, he always seemed to bridge the gap between the numerous red sox closers through out the 2000's

Actually in 2003 we went to the ALCS and lost game 7 to NY on Boone's homer. It was 2006 that your occurence happened in.

My Favorite Red Sox Team

Wow. Some interesting choices.

I'll go with Carlton Fisk at catcher with Tek a close second. First base is a tough one for me. I never really liked any of our first basemen, so I'll let that one slide. I'll go with Dustin Pedroia at second and Jerry Remy, well, second. Shortstop? I don't really want to take Nomar. He was such a negative guy while he was here. I like Mike Lowel at 3rd base, though I would have taken Butch Hobson is he didn't have the huge cocaine stuff go down. Jim Rice is my left fielder with Jason Bay behind him. Fred Lynn is in center and we'll go with Damon behind him. Right field is Dwight Evans with Trot a distant second. Evans owned right field. The DH is Papi.

I hate relief pitching. So let me just say that I enjoy Papelbon and move on from there.

Starting pitching? Roger Clemens broke my heart. He is was my favorite player of all time. I always hated Pedro and will never put the guy on this list. I really like Jon Lester and Josh Beckett. We'll put them on there. Luis Tiant, Bruce Hurst, and Dennis Eckersley. I love Oil Can Boyd, so throw him in there somewhere.

As far as a manager, I'll go with Dan Zimmer.
Tito sucks.

My Favorite Red Sox Team

I love the Red Sox of today, but not as deeply as I loved the team that broke my heart against the Reds. Pudge Fisk, Yaz, and especially Jim Rice -- the only player I know of who could break his bat on a checked swing.
