2009-2010

Following my preseason top 25 for 2009-2010, I have made a preseason mid-major top 25. I have spent a good amount of time researching each team, and my rankings are not just based on players from each team or this past season. There have been a good bit of mid-major players declare for the draft, and I have taken that into consideration. These rankings are based on Shawn Taggart of Memphis, Stephen Curry of Davidson, and Patrick Mills of Saint Mary’s staying in the draft. I will update the rankings at some point after the draft declaration deadline (April 26). Feel free to critique or ask questions to why I ranked each team or didn’t rank a team.

No disrespect to the Bulldogs, they are a fine program and will be a top 20 team next year. But if Derrick Brown stays, expect Xavier to be a pre-season top 5 team. They are absolutely stacked. This is the first time in their history that they have a legitimate shot at a national title. Chris Mack will lead them to the promised land. As for Gonzaga, if all these players really leave for the NBA, it is possible that they may not make the tournament for the first time in quite sometime. They are quite obviously always very good, but to lose talent like that would kill any program for at least a year. Move up Siena; Fran is the real deal. Drop Dayton. No Coach, fine athleticism, but not high basketball IQ players. Some darkhorses to really watch out for are WKU, BYU, Creighton, and Tulsa. Those teams have a fantastic upside and great potential. I have Gonzaga, Siena, and Xavier over them By the end of the season, Indiana State will be there. Other than those 2, I don't see a real major flaw. Good work! [ Reply to Comment ]
