Cubs home opener

Opening day at Wrigley Field is in the books now.  Cubs fans across America (the world for that matter) have "GO Cubs GO" stuck in their heads due to the first of many wins at home this year.  Last year we celebrated wins 55 times and so far this year we can still wish to go undefeated at home.

Ted Lilly look wonderful which is nice after a shaky outing last week where he allowed 5 homeruns.  This week he allowed 2 hits and accumulated 8 strikeouts while allowing NO runs.  Atta boy Ted.  I am very happy with Fukudome, he is showing he is made of something.  I just want Bradley to come back soon (one week and already having to sit, typical).  With Bradley available, he can platoon with Fukudome while Fukudome platoons with Reed Johnson at center as well.  This combo can keep all three stars healthy and fresh all year.  FINALLY!!!  Derek Lee showed up for a game, after a horrid start to the regular season he came through today with a couple walks, 2 hits (one for extra bases I believe) and an always important RBI.  The Cubs have drawn 19 walks over the past two games.  With such a dominant offense, these guys sure are being patient.  They can all smack the ball yet they still keep their composure and draw walks.

5-2 to start the season.  We are looking like we want to win the first 3 series.  If the bullpen would quit walking batters we would be smoking EVERYONE.  Go Cubs Go.

Cubs home opener

Hey big game today for Rich harden against old Cub Jason Marquis. This time I'm glad I'm rooting for Harden. Marquis stats as a Cub as a starter were 23-18 and at Wrinley 12-9. Not bad numbers but He had a terrible ERA. Most of his wins were batters bailing him out and late comebacks. I'm glad hes not on our team hopefully it shows to night. Hardens got to last for a couple innings instead of racking of Ks which arn't bad. Lets take this series and win today!

I noticed Soriano looking very awkward when he scored that last run on Fukudome's single.  He looked very slow and troubled on his way from third to home.  I almost thought he was gonna get out.  He has always made faces though.  He is an interesting ballplayer.  I almost feel that is is starting to take is easy because he is obviously doing the best right now.  maybe he thinks he can afford to.  On the other hand.  if he is hurt, i wonder how long he has been because he is HOT right now.

Yeah it was nice to hear "Go Cubs Go". Greg finally looked good today had nice command. Maybe with Bradley being out maybe could get him on a role because he was 1-17 with his only hit a solo homerun. He does have 5 walks so he is patient so far. Soriano looks like hes playing hurt. Hes always making faces. D-Lee had a awesome game going 2-3 with a RBI, run scored, and two walks. Its very nice to see Fukudome patient today with three walks. Good pitching from Lilly today. Bullpen did what it was supposed to do today, very nice to see that.
