In Dire Need to Play the Natinals

As we all have seen, the Marlins have gone from one of the hottest teams in baseball to now one of the coldest. Our problems are everywhere. Our hitting is suffering. Out pitchers are inconsistent (except for JJ) and our defense is and always has been subpar. From this point I am not even sure what moves we could make to become a better team. Calling up Gabby Sanchez and replacing him with the struggling Emilio Bonifacio could have an impact. But we are in need of more that one replacement. At this point in the season, it appears as if we only have 3 guys who could start for another MLB team. John Baker, Jorge Cantu and Hanley Ramierez. The rest of the guys are batting unbelievably bad. Dan Uggla who has found a home in the 5th spot is now batting under .195. Our defense is very lack luster. With the exception of a very pleasant surprise in center field with Cameron Maybin, our defense is struggling to say the least. Uggla can't field, and Hanley with his new contract seems like he doesn't want to get his jersey dirty. Pitching, which is our biggest strength is falling apart. JJ is great, Nolasco can't find that strike zone, Volsdadt is a quality young pitcher (I'll give him some time), Annibal Sanchez just throws 92mph fastballs down the pipe, and Graham Taylor who was brought up because of his ability to throw strikes, can't find the Kzone. Now i know this seems a little doom and gloom, however we are in the midst of a long slump and need to click on all cylinders to get back to playing quality baseball, or our fan-base will abandon them quickly. Although it may not seem like it, I am still on the wagon, but we need to look better in losses and victories.

In Dire Need to Play the Natinals

As an Astros fan I thought the exact same thing.  However, we went into Washington looking for 2 easy W's and ended up with a loss and a suspended game tied 10-10 in the bottom of the 11th.  Haha, they are good :/

In Dire Need to Play the Natinals

I agree that the recent trends of many of the Florida Marlins players has been troubling, but I am not just ready to push the panic button yet.  There is a reason this team got off to such a hot start.  They have the talent to be an excellent ball club, but they need to come out and play like it on a nightly basis.  Josh Johnson has been absolutely stellar for this ball club so far and the rest of the starting rotation needs to follow his lead.  I am not sure what to make of Dan Uggla's struggles at the plate.  To be honest, it completely baffles me.  He looks incompetent swinging a bat and even worse in the field.  This team has a good mix of speed and power hitters, and they need to take advantage of that fact.  Emilio Bonifacio and the other guys at the top of the lineup need to get on base in order to give the meat of the lineup some help.  Doing so will force opposing pitchers to throw their fastball more often and give the Fish something to hit.  Hopefully this slump they have been in will not last too much longer.  The potential for greatness is there, they just gotta reach out, grab it, and hang on.
