NFL Power Rankings

Posted on: May 31, 2009 2:21 am

1. New England Patriots - Two words. Tom Brady, and hes baaaack. He's not alone either, welcome vetrans Fred Taylor and Joey Galloway to the offense. Along with a younger defense in the draft. They had 4 2nd round picks. Also drafted 4 DTs in the draft. Bodden, Springs, and Butler will do fine at corner. The Pats are the real deal... again.

2. Philadelphia Eagles - Amazing Offseason. Jason Peters, Ellis Hobbs then Maclin and McCoy in the draft. Dont forget 5 rounders Ingram and Harris. The Eagles are going to have a deep dynamic offense and a solid defense. Tough divison.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers - You rebuilt your O-Line a little. But you lost McFadden, Washington, and Foote. Hopefully your secondary can step it up. Last year rookies Mendenhall and Sweed are looking for playing time. Big Ben is getting better every year.

4. Indianapolis Colts - You lost Dungy, thats big. But your still ok. You brought in Donald Brown he'll do good. If you can establish some running game and your defense stays healthy your set. I mean you have Peyton Manning.

5. New York Giants - Plaxico is gone. Theres about 5 WR who can play, someone must step it up. Nicks and Hixon look good. Jacobs is a beast. Your DL with Osi back is going to be amazing. Michael Boley is going to be good. Your front 7 is amazing. If Eli can put it together and get some WR involved your going to be set.

6. Arizona Cardinals - Your team last year + McFadden (cb) and Beanie Wells. You lost very little. No matter what Anquan does your going to be one of the best offenses.

7. Baltimore Ravens - Your looking good. Your lost Bart Scott. Oher was a good pick. Bringing in LJ Smith, Domonique Foxworth, Chris Carr, and Fabian Washington brings depth into your secondary. Flaccos in his 2nd year. Ray is getting older, is he the same Ray? Your looking like another strong season in Baltimore.

8. Tennessee Titans - Haynesworth < 100Mil. Theres 4 DT that are going to rotate and do better than Haynesworth. LenDale White and Chris Johnson will dominate. An improved passing game with the additons of Kenny Britt, Jared Cook, and Nate Washington will help. One of the best OL around. If the defense can dominate like it has the last few years look for a deep(er) playoff run.

9. Atlanta Falcons - Ryan will be lights out. Turner also. Improved OL. Young defensive players added but your secondary is looking a little weak now. But I still think your going to great in the NFC.

10. San Deigo Chargers - Two main guys are back from injuries Shawne Merriman and LaDainian Tomlinson if they can return wow. Your drafted Larry English who is very dynamic. What happened to Cromartie last year. If your players play how expected look for a completely different season that last year.

11. Chicago Bears - Jay Cutler is going to be great. Hes happy. He has some targets : Hester, Davis, Iglesias, Olsen, and Bennett (college bud). Recently signee Pisa Tinoisamoa adds an even stronger LB. Your defense is always solid. Forte will be great. Your looking good not to mention your have the easiest schedule.

12. New Orleans Saints - Drew Brees is great. Its up to Reggie to show what he can do if not Pierre Thomas might take over. As for defense you added Malcom Jenkins and Jabari Green and dont forget vetran safety Darren Sharper. You look like a surprise team this year but your on my radar.

13. Carolina Panthers - Everyone has the Panthers as a top 5 team, I don't see it. Yes theres DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart which everyone thinks is the best rushing game well its actually #4. Delhomme is 34/35 now. Steve Smith is great, Mushy is old. Jarrett is looking better. Lost a couple players in your secondary and Julius Peppers wants out. Your LBs are solid. I still see you as a good team but not an elite team.

14. Minnesota Vikings - Adrian Peterson is amazing, duh. Your WR are getting great Berrian, Harvin, Rice, and Wade the bad thing is you have Rosenfels who is too much of a risktake and a wannabe Vick in Jackson. Sharpers gone and can the Williams (DTs) stay out of trouble? Lucky that you have the 2nd easiest schedule.

15. Washington Redskins - Improved Defense with Haynesworth and Brian Orakpo along with a great secondary all around. Portis is always good. You have some young targets in Thomas, Kelly, Mitchell, and Davis can they step up. Hows Jason Campbell going to do or does Todd Collins get another chance... Colt Brennan? Chase Daniel?

16. Dallas Cowboys - T.O. is gone. Roy Williams and Witten its up to you. Romo can you even play without T.O? Barber / Felix are going to be great. Besides DeMarcus Ware your defense is weak.

17. Houston Texans - Your young, and doing better every year. Mario Williams, Steve Slaton, Andre Johnson, DeMarco Ryans and company are good. Your in a tough divison and your schedule is hard. Going to make a playoff push. Give it one more year and your set.

18. Green Bay Packers - Ryan Grant might be a fluke. Aaron Rodgers did pretty good. Im still not set on GB doing well. With the Vikings and Bears improving so much can you keep up?

19. Buffalo Bills - T.O. = N.O. He's going to do fine. But Lee Evans dont say a word all year. If you catch a ball your going to get yelled at. Lynch will miss some games. And your defense stepped up last year and will again. Look for a late playoff push.

20. Seattle Seahawks - Matt Hasselbeck is always hurt. Your defense has got a leader now in Aaron Curry. Your looking better but with an older OL and a QB whos always hurt its still going to be hard.

21. New York Jets - New Coach thats all defense. Sanchez I think is a bust. He started like 15 college games and had 3 good ones. Coles is gone, Thomas Jones will do alright. Bart Scott and Gholston might work well. Need some time tho.

22. Miami Dolphins - Wildcat + Pat White o my. To bad the DCs know its coming. And you have the hardest schedule. Your going to have trouble this year.

23. San Francisco 49ers - QB is wack. Gore is always hurt. Crabtree will do ok, Vernon Davis STEP UP. Your defense is looking nice tho.

24. Kansas City Chiefs - Cassell is going to make changes. Larry Johnson/Charles can run. Dwayne Bowe to throw too. You had a young offense and brought in two vetran LB, Thomas and Vrabel.

25. Cincinnati Bengals - OchoCinco is going to be mad. You added Coles. Your defense is still wack. Palmer is always hurt, and whos your RB?

26. Denver Broncos - You got help you needed on defense. But then you trade Dre Bly. You got a young D. And your starting QB is Orton, and is Marshall going to stay out of trouble. Moreno will be great.

27. Jacksonville Jaguars - MJD is now your #1 back, thats alot of wear and tear. Torry Holt is old and is not the savor. Garrard isn't so hot. Your defense is just ok. Also in a tough divison.

28. Oakland Raiders - DHB + McFadden + JaMarcus = Young Core. You have some offense, your D is slacking beside the best corner on the league. You'll sneak some wins.

29. Detriot Lions - Your going to win, finally. Lets name some new players: Stafford, Pettigrew, Delmas, Jon Jansen (OL), Bryant Johnson, Ronald Curry, Julian Peterson, Larry Foote, Phillip Buchanon,Eric King, and Anthony Henry. Along with the freak, Calvin and Ernie Sims your rebuilding starts out well. Good luck Jim Schwartz.

30. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Your in so much trouble you can't even sell your season tickets. Your GM is already talking about blackouts. You have 3 aveage QBs and 3 average RBs. Winslow is still unproven. And you let go of Derrick Brooks. Going to be a long season.

31. St.Louis Rams - Re-Building Stage is now. Your have Marc Injury Bulger. Rebuilding your oline. You release Holt, Pisa, Pace. You've added some young keys. Steven Jackson will still have a decent year. But you wont win more than 3 games.

32. Cleveland Browns - You dont even know your QB. Braylon Edwards and Shaun Rodgers want(ed)out. No longer have a TE. Jamal Lewis is getting old. I can't even name 3 players on your D.

NFL Power Rankings

Good power poll, definately opens up some debates.

I think NE being #1 is easy and as far as I concerned Arizona and Pittsburgh deserve the 3,2 spot.  Those were without a doubt the two best teams in the NFL last season when it was all said and done.

Putting any confidence in Chicago or Denver is unrealistic.  Quit frankly no one really knows whats going to happen with both of thier sitituations.  Denver's defense is as bad as Chicagos' Offensive line and wide recievers, so I would image that both those teams don't make the playoffs unless they drastically improve in those areas.

I think Minnesota or Green Bay will fight it out for thier division.  San Diego should run away with thiers.  Arizona and San Fran should battle and New Englands conference will be brutal.  I think Indy will crash this season and Atlanta will excel under Ryan

1 New England
2 Pittsburgh
3 San Diego
4 Tennessee
5 Jacksonville
6 Balitmore

Just missing out:  Indy, Miami, the Jets, and Houston

1 Atlanta
2 New York
3 Arizona
4 Minnesota
5 Dallas
6 Green Bay

Just missing out:  Carolina, Philly, Washington, and San Fran

NFL Power Rankings

All the haters love to lie when it comes to the Pats.   Brady did all he could in that SB.  The O Line lost it, who got overwhelmed by the Giants D Line, and the Defense at the end (Assante Samuel lets a game ending int go right through his hands that he catches 99 our of 100 times).  But Brady "choked"?  Hilarious.

NFL Power Rankings

I believe this spot is way off for the Bengals, last year there was no passing offense and Benson was not half bad. The offensive line will be younger and Carson will be back Ocho will be in better shape Coles for T.J. was not horrible but Chris Henry will be the big story and this will open holes for Cedric to get well over 1000 yards. The defense made great strides last year now insert Roy Williams, Tank Johnson, some really good draft picks featuring Rey Maualuga working hard to prove he was top 10 draft pick material will all lead to at least a 9-7 season.

NFL Power Rankings

Lets start off with 1. As of now they are #1 cuz they have proved to be the dominant team of the decade over and over again.
#2- You really need to lay off the cool aid. Who can mcnabb through to? Good offseason? they lost brian dawkins!!!!!! And they r in the best division in football.
I like everything until 6. Arizona got lucky last year and just got on a hot streak. Similar to the Giants. Oh and I agree completely on boley. He had better stats than any line backer in atlanta the last 2 years. But they still need help. Terrible O line & secondary needs to step up.
Now as a Falcons fan I like the 9 spot, but 10 is a long shot. San Diego was probably the failure of all last year. They did completely terrible. They won 2 games that if it wasnt for a whistle and a no repaly rule they wouldnt have won. So I see them going about 8-8.
I see the bears winning 10 or 11 this year.
The panthers r getting old. Yet they do have DeAngelo and Stewart look at everyone else on the team. The face out the defense since who knows when, doesnt want to play anymore. Not good for Carolina fans.
Minnesota is ick. And Washington blows. U should switch dallas with arizona because yes, romo can play without Terrell. And their defense will step up dramaticaly this year. Major improvements going out of Dallas.
Now to #20. Seattle should be number 30. They r completely terrible. Plain pathetic. Nothing else to say.
New York & Miami will be bust this year. They did decent last year but they will go back to their 6-10 and below ways.
I agree with everything from there on until the Raiders at 28 and the Lions at 21. Raiders have not done anything. Taking them outside of the 30's excites them. They only had 57 total yards against a very average defense of Atlanta last year. And the lions will do a heck of a lot better with Stafford. He's amazing. I would put them at 23.
And im glad that someone else thinks that Tampa Bay will do very bad comparing to the rest of the decade. They r going to fold like lawn chairs all year long.

NFL Power Rankings

ok, wow where do I begin on this one......... You obviously are either A) A New England Patriot, NY Jet, OR Bill fan or B) You are far uneducated in the world of the Miami Dolphins and the "trii-fecta",and this is evident.  The only person you mention for the Phins is Pat White? our second round pick?  Yeah White might make an immediate impact in the Wildcat, and oh you mentioned that teams were going to figure it out?  Sorry are you the Great Nostradamos? Do you really know this or are you merely basing their power ranking on their schedule?  That is completely unfair, Miami is the DEFENDING AFC EAST CHAMPION, in a DAMN TOUGH DIVISION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!we handled Buffalo last year, split with NE(yes i realize brady was on ir)and we beat the Brett Farve Jets when it mattered...Ok , so fast forward to this off-season, we go out and reel in possibly the best cfl prospect in years in lb Cameron Wake who had 23 sacks last year in the CFL, doubling the second place player in sacks.  Yes we lost Goodman and Hill who were quality cb's but by no means stars.  Vontae Davis, Miami's first round pick this year is a athletic freak of nature rivaling his brother Vernon in Brute Strength (the only difference is Vernon catches the ball for a living, Vontae makes tackles!).  Sean Smith, a 6' 4" cb out of undefeated Utah compliments Davis along with the ever so reliable Will Allen, Free Agent acquisition Eric Green, and Jason Allen(notice i ended with Allen).  We resigned reliable Mlb Channing Crowder, S Yeremiah Bell, Signed S Gibril Wilson(super bowl winner) and oh yeah we got a guy by the name of Jason Taylor, you ever heard of him? Stud second year players Philip Merling and Kendall Langford look to put impressive numbers this year.  Our defense, which was stout last year, playing with the bend but not break attitude, will be better this year!  On offense Chad Pennington returns for his second season at the helm at Qb along w familiar faces ronnie brown, ricky williams, and the ultra dangerous patrick cobbs.  Our Wr core, while I admit lacked a definite # 1 playmaking reciever, will get one this year with the emergence of Ted Ginn Jr.  Ginn's numbers have increased in his first two years, as many wr's seem to flourish in their third year.  6'5" Patrick Turner along with Brian Hartline will compete with Ginn, Davone Bess, Greg Camarillo, Brandon London, Ernest Wilford, and others.  TE Anthony Fasano returns after his best season to date.  The raiders opted not to resign their center Jake Grove, who by all means has a great chance to become a Pro-Bowl Calibur center.  Pro-Bowl stud Jake long returns to an offensive line that will be shockingly better than last year!!!!!!!!
