The question will be answer, if Brewers fans will be singing Randy Newman's song from Naked Gun....I Love LA, after the Brewers next 3 games against Joe Torre's and his Los Angeles Dodgers

The Brewers make thier way up highway 5 and then to the 101, to Dodger Stadium for a 3 game series, against the team with the best record in baseball, the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Crew struggles continue in southern California, against the team with the 2nd worst record in the National League, the San Diego. The Brewers have a record of 3-4 against the worst 2 games team in National, the Padres and Nats.

The worst hitting team in National League the Padres would enter the series, hitting .239 as a team. After facing the Brewers pitching staff, they would pound 16 runs and 34 hits and would bat .340 against the Crew.

The Brewers fans are aware of the struggles of the Brewers pitching staff. But this team struggles hitting the ball. Padres would send the likes of Gaudin, Richard and Correia to faces the Crew in the weekend series. The Brewers would response with 15 runs and ONLY 19 hits for a batting average of .188, against the team with the 2nd highest era in the National League.

Its off to land of Farmer John Hot Dogs and Chavez Rivine and Joe Torre and his Dodgers. This would be 2nd time the Crew will face the Dodgers in 2009. Earlier in this season, the Crew would play host to the Dodgers at the Keg Park or Miller Park.

Friday night - July 10th - Looper vs Dodgers All-Star pitcher Chad Billingsley. 41,811 a full house at the keg would see the Brewers be able to get the ace of the Dodgers with 5 hits and 4 walks, to score 5 runs in 5 innings. But the Dodger would also snap around Braden Looper for 5 runs in 6 innings. The Brewers would go the top of the 9th, leading 6-5, thanks to a solo shot by Mat Gamel off lefty Brent Leach. With AC?DC blasting the Future Hall of Famer and the ALL Time save leader Trevor Hoffman comes in to save the day. But No the Dodgers would get singles by Martin and Kemp, then of all people the former Milwaukee Brewers Mark Loretta drills a tieing rbi single. The Game goes in the 10 and the Dodgers kick the tar out Carlos Villaneuva for 6 runs. The Crew lose 12-8....Dodgers 12 13 hits

Saturday -Burns vs former Milwaukee Brewer farm hand Jeff Weaver. Weaver in 08 would pitched for the Brewers Triple AAA farm team, until is clause in his contract says he has to be in the big leagues or the be release. The Brewers decided to release and not call him the big leagues. The Crew get a triple by Counsell with one out and then Furcal commints an error and the Crew score 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st, making the standing room only crowd of 43,466. The Crew get 2 more off Weaver in the 4th, one on solo shot by Frank Catalanotto. Burns surrenders 3 runs in the top of the 5th. Andre Ethier hits a solo shot and Furcal his a 2 run homerun. Macha goes to the bullpen and gets 2 innings of 2 hit shutout baseball from McClung and 1 inning from Coffey. In the bottom of the 8th, the Crew tack on 2 insurance runs, with an rbi double by Hardy. No way Hoffman is blowing another save, he is all business and the Crew win 6-3. 3 runs and 8 hits for the men in Blue

Sunday afternoon - Gallardo vs Kershaw 42,241 Brewer fans are thinking the Ace will hand the Dodgers and the Crew would win the series against the Dodgers. Myself and other Brewer fans, were Dodgers fans last season, when they sent Lou Pineilla and the Cubs to the golf courses, when they knock them out of the playoffs. The Crews Ace would struggle to find the plate, which is not good, when you face the Dodgers. After a walk to Furcal, Manny Ramirez would nail a Double and they both would score a single by James Loney. Back-up catcher Brad Ausmus would take Yovani Gallardo deep to left in the 4th. The Dodgers get 2 more in the 5th off G-Man and its time for the showers for Gallardo. 2nd baseman Orlando Hudson puts the game out of reach with solo blast off Chris Smith in the 6th and Mitch Stetter in the 8th. Dodgers win 7-4 and pound out 9 hits.

Its off the pitcher friendly Dodger stadium for the Crew. Thank heaven Dodger stadium is pitcher friend, seeing that the Dodgers nailed the Crew for 11 homeruns at Miller Park in the series earlier in the year. That could spell trouble for the team that leads the National League in giving up the long ball, the Brewers. But when you look at the stats, the Dodgers as a team have only 87 homeruns as a team, with is 12th in the National League. Meaning that 12.6 of the Dodgers total homeruns, came off the pitching of the Brewers....OUCH

The Dodgers might be 12 in the national League in hitting homeruns, does not mean they can not hit the baseball. The men in Blue are #1 in hitting in the way of batting average, hitting a total of .277 as a team. They average 4.91 runs score which is 3rd in the National League.

The Brewers will have to hit better then .188, to win a game against the Dodgers. The Dodgers are 2nd in National League in Era with an era of 3.58. Only the Dodgers arch-rivals San Francisco Giants have a better era of 3.46

Desipte the stats of hitting and pitching, the Crew will have to deal with their history at Dodger stadium. In the land of the movie stars, the Brewers since they have played in Los Angeles in 1998, their record is 11-26. The last time they would a series in the city of Angels was Ned Yost first year in 2003 when they took 2 out of 3. The only other time was under manager and former Dodger Davey Lopes in 2000. Heck in 2006, 2002 and 2001, the Crew would go home without a W !!!!

Last season the Brewers against Torre's Dodgers would win 1 game out of 3. Its a weekend series in Los Angeles August 15th thru 17th. Every seat in the house is full, including the ALL YOU CAN EAT in rightfield bleachers.

Friday night - Billingsley vs Parra....The Crew would strike first with a 2 run shot in the top of the 1st, by leftfielder Gabpe Kapler playing for the injury Ryan Braun. Thanks to singles by Juan Pierre and Jeff Kent, Manny Ramirez single scores Pierre. The Crew get their last run in the top of the 2nd, rbi hit by Kendall. Casey Blake ties the game in the bottom of the 4th, a 2 run shot off Parra. The Dodgers pull ahead for good, when with 1 out Kemp doubles and scores a single by the veteran Jeff Kent. Russell Martin hits a solo shot of Carlos V in the bottom of the 8th. Dodgers win 5-3

Saturday -Bush vs Lowe -Bush is not able to register an out, when the Dodgers pull ahead 2-0. Kemp leads off with a double and scores on Ethier 2 run bomb to right/center. In the top the 2nd the Brewers make it a 2-1 game, with 1 out Hart and Counsell single. Hart then scores on a single by Cameron. Bush does a stellar job after the 1st inning and throws 7 innings of 5 hit and those 2 run baseball. Lowe was not bad either going 7 innings allowing 8 hits and that 1 runs. Its up the bullpen, Torre calls on lefty from Tainan City Taiwan, Hong Chih Kuo. Braun leads off with a double down the rightfield line and Durham flys out to right. It brings up JJ Hardy and he drills a 1-2 pitch into the left/center seats. Putting the Crew up 3-2. The former dodger Eric Gagne throws the 8th for the Crew. Chan-Ho Park throws the top of the 9th for the Dodgers. In the bottom of the 9th, Either is to lead off for the Dodgers, Yost calls on the lefty Brian Shouse to face him, Ethier then draws a walk. Yost calls on his closer Salomon Torres to get the job done. Jeff Kent hits a ground ball to JJ Hardy and he boots it for an error, enables Ethier to go to 3rd. He scores on a sac fly by Manny Ramirez, forcing the game to go extra innings.

Torres calls on the hard throwing Jonathan Braxton. He gets the 1st two outs, with Jason Kendall lining out to left and Ryan Braun to go down swinging. Ray Durham draws a 2 out walk and then steals 2nd. JJ Hardy gets revenge for his error, when he drives a single to right, that scores Durham. Doug Riskes gets the Dodgers 1-2-3 to earn the save.

Sunday -Suppan vs Kershaw - no surprise the Dodgers get 3 runs off Suppan in the 1st inning. Matt Kemp leads off with a solo shot and Manny Ramirez hits a 2 run homerun. Mike Cameron makes it 3-1, with his 21st homerun of the season off Clayton Kershaw in the top of the 4th. Jeff Suppan is still pitching the bottom of the 5th, he surrenders a solo shot to Andre Ethier. The rookie Kershaw pitches well, going 6 innings and allows 8 hits and 1 run. Torre turns to the right Jason Johnson to pitch the 7th. Its still 4-1 in favor of the Dodgers in the bottom of the 7th, Seth McClung comes in Jeff Suppan, Andre Ethier greets him with a double to start the inning. Ethier scores on single by Manny Ramirez to make it 5-1.

The Crew would rally in the top of the 9th, Johnson still on the mound for the Dodgers. With 1 out Kendall singles. Torre calls on Chan-Ho Park, he pitches to Craig Counsell. Counsell hits a ground ball to 1st baseman James Loney, should be a game ending double play, but Loney misplays it for an error. Ray Durham then singles to right and that scores Jason Kendall. Then Ryan Braun drills a 3 run homerun to right and the game is tie at 5-5. Torre goes to the bullpen again for Joe Beimel, he throws one pitch to Prince Fielder and he grounds out.

Yost turns to Carlos Villaneuva to pitch the bottom of the 9th. Matt Kemp singles to center on a 2-2 pitch and Andre Ethier drills a 1-2 pitch to deep rightfield, making Joe Beimel a winning pitcher and the Crew lose 7-5

What are the match-ups for this weekend in Los Angeles.

Friday night -Manny Parra vs Clayton Kershaw..The Carmichael native Manny Parra with be facing the Dodgers for the 3rd time in his career. The Crews 26th round pick in 01, has a record of 0-1 an era of 3.60 in 12 innings of work against the Dodgers. That lose would be the game last season at Dodger stadium, his only start at Chavez Rivine

The Lefty Clayton Kershaw, the Dodgers #1 pick and 7th overall in 2006 from Highland Park High School in Dallas Texas, the home of the Scots. Clayton will be facing the Crew for the 3rd time. He has been awesome against the Crew with a record of 1-0 an era of 1.50. He has throw 12 innings of 2 run and 10 strikeout baseball against the Crew. It will be his 23rd start at the Rivine and he is 6-4 with an era of 2.57. 122 innings with 122 K's

Saturday night - Gallardo vs Kuroda -Gallardo the Crews 2nd round pick, behind Mark Rogers in 2004. Gallardo will be facing the Dodgers for the 2nd time in his career. His only start was reported earlier in this write-up 5 runs in 5 innings

Hiroki Kuroda, the 34 year righty from Osaka Japan, will be facing the Brewers for the 2nd time in his career. It will be his 1st start against the Crew. The only the Brewers would face Kuroda was in relief and the Crew would tag him with 3 runs, back on July 12th at Miller Park. He is 6-5 with an era of 3.83 at Dodger Stadium

Sunday afternoon -Looper vs Schmidt -Will be facing the Dodgers for the 28th time and only his 3rd start. His career is 3-3 with an era of 5.12.

Jason Schmidt - making his 4th start for the Dodgers, since not starting 6 games in 2007. Schmidt who is 36 years old and born from Lewiston Idaho. He played his high school baseball Kelso Highlanders in Kelso Washington. Schmidt is 6-5 213 right-hander. He would be a 8th round draft pick of the Atlanta Braves in 1991. It will be Schmidts 15th start against the Crew, his record is 7-4 with an era of 3.16. He has 2 complete games and 1 shutout. He will be facing the Crew for the 1st time since he faces them in game 3 of the 2007 season at Miller Park. He threw 5 innings of 3 hit and 1 run baseball and walk 3 and k'd 5.

The Brewers fans are hoping to sing the tune "I Love LA", but gutting feel, that the Dodgers and the history of the Crew in Los Angeles, will sign a different tune. This is one Brewer fan it will be another 2006-2001-2000, when we travel to Houston with zero wins at all !!!!!

Enjoy your baseball and Go Crew

Just so you know, it's Randy Newman. Not Ryan. Anyway, Ryan Braun seems to always play well at Dodger Stadium (.429, .429, 1.419) possibly because he's an LA native (the Valley) and he always has a big rooting section show up for him. The Brewers actually played at Dodger Stadium this year for two exhibition games and Kershaw even started one of them (three hitless innings, 2BB, 4K's). The Brewers won them both for what it's worth with Braun even hitting his first HR of Spring Training. I would expect another big series from him, though I hope not.
