One more year! One more year!

If Evan Turner returns for his senior season the buckeyes will be a tough team to contend with next year.  With a stellar recruiting class coming to Columbus, headed by two McDonald's All Americans, this team will flirt with a number one ranking all year long.  If The Villain comes back OSU could a favorite to win it all.  This depth chart is just a guess as to what it may look like next season.

PG- Evan Turner / Aaron Craft

If Evan Turner does come back he will be an obvious favorite for player of the year honors and all the other accolades.  But we all know what Evan can do.  Aaron Craft is going to give the buckeyes some much needed depth behind Turner.  Next year Craft will be a high energy defender type guy that will work well in a zone or in man.  He plays great one on one defense and is also a very good ball handler.  If Turner stays he will be able to come off the floor and take some breaks unlike this year which was Ohio State's biggest weakness.

SG- William Buford / John Diebler / Lenzelle Smith Jr. / Jordan Sibert

William Buford and John Diebler showed great shooting touch this season and were both major contributors on the team.  Next year I think these guys might need to share minutes at both wing spots.  Smith and Sibert will both fight for minutes next year but I'm sure they will get some time in.  Smith is a lefty scorer who uses his body well.  He is ranked in the top 100 incoming recruits by ESPN.com.  Sibert is recovering from an injury but will be ready to go by next year.  He is a solid scorer and shooter.  Shooting guard will be the most deep and talented positions on the team next season.

SF- David Lighty / DeShaun Thomas / J.D. Weatherspoon

David Lighty will be back for his senior season and will be given the job of defensive stopper for the third season in a row.  He has developed his offensive game and should be a major player his senior year.  Thomas is the first of two McDonald's All Americans on this team and he is a great player.  He is a lefty who can play both forward positions.  He is very strong and athletic and does a lot of damage around the basket.  Weatherspoon was a teammate of Jared Sullinger, 2nd highest ranked high school player, and is a very athletic forward.  Small forward is another very deep position lead by a 5th year senior and defensive stopper.

PF- Jared Sullinger / David Lighty / DeShaun Thomas / Nikola Kecman

Lead by McDonald's All American number two Jared Sullinger this position should give Ohio State major production.  Sullinger is a beast on the boards and can score in bunches.  Lighty and Thomas will play both SF and PF when Thad Matta wants to go with a smaller lineup like the Buckeyes played most of this season.  Lighty and Thomas will both be able to guard averaged sized PF's with out much trouble and both can score on bigger guys.  Sullinger will probably be a one and done so look for him to have a huge season for the Buckeyes.
Nikola Kecman probably won't see much time but he can hit an outside jumper if you need one.

C- Dallas Lauderdale / Jared Sullinger / Zisis Sarikopoulos

Dallas, another senior, will be asked to rebound and block shots just like this year.  They won't need scoring out of him but will use his hard work inside for offensive rebounds.  Sullinger will play some center for this team.  The big question for the bucks is if Zisis can have an impact.  He is a 7 ft 1 transfer from UAB and didn't have any impact for the Bucks in this season.  If he can develop his game and give the Buckeyes a seven footer off the bench that would help tremendously.

As you can see this team will be very good with or without Evan Turner.  Of course if he stays the Buckeyes will be in a great spot for a national championship run.  If he leaves OSU will still have a chance to make some noise in the Tourney with the 3 seniors, 3 juniors, and stud recruiting class.  The future looks bright for Thad Matta and company.

One more year! One more year!

LBJwitness31 you are so wrong. You cant just look at stats to determine how good a player is. Malcolm Delaney is one of the most talented players in the country who has a low field goal percentage for the simple reason that he takes a lot of difficult shots. If Malcolm Delaney is such a bad shooter than why is his free throw percentage better than Evan Turner's. your CBSSPORTS name is LBJwitness31 so i am going to assume you like the Cavs. I dont know you so i am just assuming. If you look at Anderson Varejao's stats does he sound like a huge difference? the answer is no but he makes a huge difference. so u cant just look at stats to determine how good a player is

i have to go with bballfan19 on this one. assuming Evan Turner leaves and Virginia Tech plays Ohio State Malcolm Delaney will be unstoppable. ur arguement about he is not a good shooter is bull. He has to take a lot of difficut step back shots and contested shots. Besides if he was a bad shooter then how can he shoot 85% from the line? Virginia Tech is getting 2 very talented recruits at Jarell Eddie who was supposed to attend Ohio State and Tyrone Garland. This will put less pressure on Malcolm Delaney to score because now there are other offensive threats. Ohio State has a better recruitng class but look at march madness. Kentucky has way more talent than West Virginia but West Virginia won the game because they are more experienced and play better defense and are led by a very talented senior. Same will be true for Virginia Tech if Malcolm Delaney returns.

yeah but usually in an isolation its a one on one play. but malcolm had no help. they dont need to cover Jeff Allen. So what happened is teams will stuff the lane and either draw charges or force difficult shots at the rim.Now he does Tyrone Garland averaged 28 ppg in high school so its preety safe to say he can score the ball.if u watched malcolm  play hes not a selfish player.

forget ou and memphis.its not like an NBA live double team where they come as soon as you get the ball. but one of Vt's fav plays is to iso Malcolm and have Jeff shoot 3's. there is a reason Allen got so many open 3's players had to commit to Malcolm Thats called help defense it happens every game.  Also Deleny should have averaged a lot more than 4 assists per game if he was getting doubled so much.

as i said most of those shots were taken with double teams on him. Evan Turner had a better team around him. Evan Turner is better than Malcolm Delaney but im saying Delaney is a more dynamic scorer. but now that he has a better team that percentage will go up because he will get better looks and wont have to force shots as much I hate to say this like this but your just flat out wrong.  Every game i watched of Vt this year he wansn't getting doubled.  Also ET has a much higher shooting percentage so I think he is a better scorer because they score almost the same amount and ET does it much more efficiently.

And i just didnt say Virginia Tech. You Buckeye fans that you are the only team out there with good players. here are some other teams that didnt make a whole lot of noise this year but COULD be really good next year.

Oklahoma U-last season Blake Griffin almost took this team to the final four. alot of people forget that the second leading scorer on that team was Willie Warren who was a dynamic scorer and almost carried OU to a victory at Texas last season when Blake Griffin was hurt. I believe he had 33 points that game.as a freshman he averaged 15 ppg and this year he averaged about 17 and anyway this team is getting  Cameron Clark who is the #6 SF in the country and the #16 pg which will allow Willie to go off the ball

Memphis-just look at this recruiting class.

and if you read my previous comment. Malcolm Delaney has help now you cant double team him or Dorenzo Hudson , Tyrone Garland , Jarell Eddie will kill you. and i listed SOME of his best games this year he had many more. If those teams cant stop him with a double team do u really think David Lighty can guard him by himself? You are really overrating your freshman.  If you're freshman aren't at the very cream of the crop (which eddie and garland aren't) then they won't make a very big impact their freshman year.  And I think David Lighty can guard anyone in the country.
