One more year! One more year!

If Evan Turner returns for his senior season the buckeyes will be a tough team to contend with next year.  With a stellar recruiting class coming to Columbus, headed by two McDonald's All Americans, this team will flirt with a number one ranking all year long.  If The Villain comes back OSU could a favorite to win it all.  This depth chart is just a guess as to what it may look like next season.

PG- Evan Turner / Aaron Craft

If Evan Turner does come back he will be an obvious favorite for player of the year honors and all the other accolades.  But we all know what Evan can do.  Aaron Craft is going to give the buckeyes some much needed depth behind Turner.  Next year Craft will be a high energy defender type guy that will work well in a zone or in man.  He plays great one on one defense and is also a very good ball handler.  If Turner stays he will be able to come off the floor and take some breaks unlike this year which was Ohio State's biggest weakness.

SG- William Buford / John Diebler / Lenzelle Smith Jr. / Jordan Sibert

William Buford and John Diebler showed great shooting touch this season and were both major contributors on the team.  Next year I think these guys might need to share minutes at both wing spots.  Smith and Sibert will both fight for minutes next year but I'm sure they will get some time in.  Smith is a lefty scorer who uses his body well.  He is ranked in the top 100 incoming recruits by ESPN.com.  Sibert is recovering from an injury but will be ready to go by next year.  He is a solid scorer and shooter.  Shooting guard will be the most deep and talented positions on the team next season.

SF- David Lighty / DeShaun Thomas / J.D. Weatherspoon

David Lighty will be back for his senior season and will be given the job of defensive stopper for the third season in a row.  He has developed his offensive game and should be a major player his senior year.  Thomas is the first of two McDonald's All Americans on this team and he is a great player.  He is a lefty who can play both forward positions.  He is very strong and athletic and does a lot of damage around the basket.  Weatherspoon was a teammate of Jared Sullinger, 2nd highest ranked high school player, and is a very athletic forward.  Small forward is another very deep position lead by a 5th year senior and defensive stopper.

PF- Jared Sullinger / David Lighty / DeShaun Thomas / Nikola Kecman

Lead by McDonald's All American number two Jared Sullinger this position should give Ohio State major production.  Sullinger is a beast on the boards and can score in bunches.  Lighty and Thomas will play both SF and PF when Thad Matta wants to go with a smaller lineup like the Buckeyes played most of this season.  Lighty and Thomas will both be able to guard averaged sized PF's with out much trouble and both can score on bigger guys.  Sullinger will probably be a one and done so look for him to have a huge season for the Buckeyes.
Nikola Kecman probably won't see much time but he can hit an outside jumper if you need one.

C- Dallas Lauderdale / Jared Sullinger / Zisis Sarikopoulos

Dallas, another senior, will be asked to rebound and block shots just like this year.  They won't need scoring out of him but will use his hard work inside for offensive rebounds.  Sullinger will play some center for this team.  The big question for the bucks is if Zisis can have an impact.  He is a 7 ft 1 transfer from UAB and didn't have any impact for the Bucks in this season.  If he can develop his game and give the Buckeyes a seven footer off the bench that would help tremendously.

As you can see this team will be very good with or without Evan Turner.  Of course if he stays the Buckeyes will be in a great spot for a national championship run.  If he leaves OSU will still have a chance to make some noise in the Tourney with the 3 seniors, 3 juniors, and stud recruiting class.  The future looks bright for Thad Matta and company.

One more year! One more year!

You have to look at that number in context.  He only shoots 38% which is terrible.  That is really bad.  I think you are overrating him.  He scores a lot but he takes a ton of shots.  Not that impressive really.  If he averaged 21 with a 50% fg then this would be a totally different conversation.

One more year! One more year!

There is not a player on that team who can stop him besides Evan Turner so if hes gone Malcolm will dominate Evan Turner wasn't even the best defender on the Buckeyes.  David Lighty would make it really hard for him to score.  This is all meaningless as OSU is the better team.  Obviously you think a little to highly of your team and overrate them a little bit.

lets be realistic for a second. chances are evan turner is gone. and assume VT plays Ohio State. They will have no answer for Malcolm Delaney. There is not a player on that team who can stop him besides Evan Turner so if hes gone Malcolm will dominate. He is averaging 20 points per game against great ACC guards. He put up 37 points when Greivis Vasquez guarded him, 27 when Jon Scheyer and Nolan Smith guarded him and he was in foul trouble , 27 at Penn State against Taylor battle , 32 at Georgia Tech against Iman Shumpert who is supposed to be one of the best defenders in the country , 30 agaisnt Ishmael Smith who is around the top of the ACC in steals do i need to go on? plus the thing that is most impressive is for the majority of these games he was double teamed because he was there only dynamic scorer. Dorenzo Hudson was solid at 15 ppg but for the most part Malcolm carried the team on his back. Now Dorenzo Hudson will be back and Virginia Tech is recruiting Jarell Eddie who s a strong and physical wing that can get to the rim or knock down the open three. He also has a good mid range pull up when he can't go all the way. Eddie attacks the rim in transition and in the half court slashes and power and averaged 27 points and 13 rebounds and Tyrone garland -We watched this scrappy guard at the Reebok Camp and came away impressed. Tyrone is a 6-2 scoring combo guard who is a solid athlete. He's probably more of a 2 than a 1 right now but he has the basketball smarts to lead a team. Garland scores by dribble penetration and getting to the free throw line. Adding these two key pieces makes VT elite company in the ACC. Lets take a look at this lineup.

VT HOKIES

PG-Malcolm Delaney-led the ACC in scoring at 20.9 points per a game.one of the most dynamic guards in the country.
SG-Dorenzo Hudson-Very improved this year and was a great complement to Delaney and averaged 15.7 a game.
SF-Jarell Eddie-a strong and physical wing that can get to the rim or knock down the open three. He also has a good mid range pull up when he can't go all the way. Eddie attacks the rim in transition and in the half court slashes and power and averaged 27 points and 13 rebounds in high school.
PF-Jeff Allen-coming off a dissapointing junior season i look for him to bounce back and finnish his Hokie career off in style.he averaged 12 points and 7 rebounds a game
C- Victor Davilla-played on the puerto rican national team. should be much improved next year

BE-Tyrone Garland-averaged 28 ppg in high school. dynamic scorer off the bench that was missing this year
BE-Terell Bell-started this year will likely move to the bench in his senior season.solid defender who knocks down the 3.NBA comparison-James Posey
BE-JT thompson-athletic powerforward who runs the floor , blocks shots and is very active. NBA comparison-more athletic version of Andy Varejeo

One more year! One more year!

Va Tech-a team snubbed from the tournament and has the best back court combo in the ACC with the leading scorer in the ACC at Malcolm Delaney and a solid Shooting guard who is averaging 15 ppg at Dorenzo Hudson. plus your going to add two all-americans to that VT team at Jarell Eddie who Seth Greenburg stole from Ohio State and Tyrone Garland VT's recruiting class doesn't even compare to OSU's.  Any body can beat anyone but I would have to say Ohio St can beat all of those teams especially VT.  VT didn't make the tourney and didn't make the final four of the NIT so that shows you where they are now and their recruiting class is just okay.  No doubt edge goes to the buckeyes in that matchup.

In the ACC-big 10 challenge next year watch out because any of these ACC teams can take down the inexperienced Ohio State Buckeyes Next years team won't be inexpierenced especially if Turner returns.  If Turner returns OSU will have 7 upperclassman who have all been in the NCAA tournement.  David Lighty was on the team that reached the championship with Oden and Conley.

First off Evan Turner is gone. the future looks bright for a lot of teams. Im an ACC guy and there are alot of teams who i think who would beat them. First off Duke. If kyle singler and Nolan Smith come back Duke will be tough to beat. Though Jon Scheyer is gone Coach K has recruited the number 2  PG in the country at Kyrie Irving and Mason Plumlee is supposed to be really good next year.

North Carolina- a team already loaded with mcdonalds all-americans is getting the #1 Sf at Harrison Barnes as well as the #3 sg at Reggie Bullock and the 6th best pg-Kendall Marshall to go with a young team that is loaded with talent which has shown in the NIT that they can compete with anyone.
