Back in the Day

It is not my intention to dishearten or disrespect any fan of the 'BIG 4" in Arizona...but come on!  What used to be the most fun teams to watch because of their offensive genius (or geniusi for plural) have all melted in a disgraceful downright dejected loathsome trickle of what used to be...these teams give the term 'back in the day' some street cred.

Let's talk the Phoenix Coyotes first.. Remember back in the day when Jeremy Roenick and Keith Tkachuk used to fly on the ice scoring at will against fun opponents?  Now we have that one guy and what's his name hoping the goalie gets distracted by Wayne Gretzky's Voodoo spells.

Oh and let's talk about the younger brother of the valley the Arizona Diamondbacks.  I remember back in the day (two years ago haha) when these kids played with class and a youthful energy that was disappointed if they had less than 10 hits per game.  Now it seems they discovered they can get into bars without having to use a fake ID and are constantly hungover.  I mean these guys don't even crack smiles anymore or show any energy like they are suffering from post Patron Silver blues syndrome (ppsbs its a real term..at least it should be).  And I can't wait for the manager at a post game interview to just lose it and throw stuff a la Dennis Green and say how the team sucks.. yeah right.

Next up are YOOOUUUUURRRR Phoenix Suns... well they aren't really yours anymore they belong to Steve Kerr and Robert Sarver.  They were so bent on destroying the most exciting team to ever play in the NBA... yes I said it THE MOST EXCITING EVER... that they have become my least favorite of the four and I almost can care less if they fail.  Honestly, ask yourself this question... would you give up ever having a world championship for the old Suns to come back and play like they did or keep these boring whining has beens with no hope for a single sell out game (except when Kobe or Lebron come).  I am so fed up with this organization for their failures to provide me with entertainment that I refuse to go to any games or watch them this upcoming year.. I could be more entertained watching the paint chip from my garage doors.

Then there is the Arizona Cardinals.  I am leary to post anything negative about them because of the great year they had in '08.  I mean afterall they have only played one game this season.. but where was the offense?  They were the inspiration for this blog ... let's hope they at least can prove me wrong so I don't move to East Guam to get away from this place.

In summary the offense in Arizona has become ... well offensive.

WHAT THE HELL??? Are all 49ers fans retarded?  I never said they were lowly.  I never dogged them.  I never said they suck. ETC ETC.  I have a lot of respect for the 49ers I think that Singletary will make them great competitors in the LOWLY NFC West.  And markman let me give you some stats before you say I don't know anything about football and before you start saying the Cardinals have no defense against the run (last 5 games).  MJD 125 yds 3 TD? umm no MJD must have been drinking MGD because he had 66 yds 0 TD.  Frank Gore week 1 33yds 22 carries 1TD.  Super Bowl Steelers (team) 58 yds 28 attempts.  Philadelphia playoffs.. Westbrook 45 yds 0 TD.  Panthers..D.Williams (1515 yds 16 TD reg season) 63 yds 0 TD.  Falcons M. Turner (1699 yds 17 TD) 52 yds 1 TD.
In conclusion the 49ers are a good team.  2-0 proves it.  But Cardinals overrated? I don't think they are, they just got hot at the right time.  Will they win the West? I think so.  But thanks anyway for your comments.

p.s. Warner "the Interception factory" has 2 more TD passes and about 200 more yards passing than Shaun Hill and just set the NFL record for completion percentage in a game.  Both our teams need luck next week.  Vikings and Colts oh my.

LOWLY NINERS?

How about overrated Cardinals?  Im gonna keep it quick.  If you dont look at the Niners as a team up and coming EVEN without a strong QB, you dont have a clue about football.  Lets keep in mind Arizona made the Bowl at a LOWLY 9-7.  If the Cards went 10-6 this year they wouldnt be a contender.  I said it 3 weeks ago amongst friends and Ill say it again, Warner will be an interception factory this year and hes well on his way.  They saw a better defensive game by SF in week 1 than they will be able to put up all year.  This AVERAGE football team surrendered 47, 48 and 56 points in 3 losses last year.  STRONG!  Then they allow a team that they have owned over the last few years to come into their pretty new house the game AFTER the Super Bowl and LOSE.  SLOWWWWW down with dogging the Niners haters, its your Cardinals that are substandard.  Lets see what MJD does to them this week.  Maurice Jones Drew---could---go---all---the---Way

Thanks to both of your for your replys and taking the time to share your thoughts.. but BamBam I don't recall calling the 49ers lowly.  They deserved to win because their defensive line was so good (you know those turnstiles that count you at the ticket gates... yeah that was the Cardinals O-line).  A couple of years ago everyone laughed at the NFC West at how weak it was.. I still think the Cardinals will win and you two think the Seahawks and 49ers respectively will win the division.  Thats what makes the division so fun to watch..yes its weak, but fun.

Back in the Day

In reply to the article you wrote, I agree.  Every one of the Arizona teams has provided lackluster showings at best when I've seen them.  Then again, just a year ago, the Cardinals provided a very entertaining Super Bowl (and made me a bit of money) in their narrow defeat to the Steelers. Too early to write anyone off that isn't named the Lions or Rams, yet I agree, that 49ers team isn't great, and the performance seen last week is likely going to be the norm.  Warner never puts 2 good seasons together back to back.

In reply to the comment above, I can't disagree more.  Seattle will win that division, which, along with the AFC West is in the bottom 2 divisions of the NFL.  Personally, I remember the dynasty of the 49ers and I believe they are a great franchise.  My Packers had many a close battle with them in the playoffs and led to many a broken heart for myself, a Packers fan.  However, success this year is not gonna happen.  The team will finish 8-8, at BEST, and even if that happens to be enough to win this horrid division, it will be a crushing loss to whatever wild card team is fortunate enough to play them. The 49ers are building a good core of talent, however, this is NOT the year, lol.

I don't know if you remember the dynasty of the 49ers, I would watch out who you call lowly. I think the cardinals got hot at the right time and are a one hit wonder. This is our year NFC WEST CHAMPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
