NFL Power Rankings - Week 9

There was some major shakeups in our power rankings after week 8.  I thought that the AFC was far and away the better conference in the NFL and then two NFC teams beat 2 of our top 5 teams on Sunday.  There is only one team left in the NFL with one loss and they occupy our top spot for the first time this season...here we go...

1.  New England Patriots (6-1) - The Patriots won an impressive game over the Vikings on Sunday in a game where the Vikings had to win.  The Patriots defense seems to be playing much better over the last couple of weeks, if they keep improving this team is going to be tough to beat come January.  This week the Patriots travel to the dog pound to face the improving Cleveland Browns who are coming off their biggest victory in the past 5 years.  For the Patriots sake, I hope they aren't looking forward to the week 10 match up with the Steelers and forget to show up against the Browns.

2.  Baltimore Ravens (5-2) - The Ravens were on a bye last week and had some time to get some players healthy and rested.  They move up the rankings this week by default since the teams above them lost.  This week they will face the Dolphins at home and so far this season the Dolphins are the best team in the NFL on the road.  This should be a very good matchup and if the Ravens can pull out a win they can prove that they belong in the number 2 spot in our rankings.

3.  Indianapolis Colts (5-2) - Even with the injuries to some key players the Colts continue to find a way to win.  Peyton Manning continues to show everyone why he is the most valuable player in the NFL.  They got revenge on the Texans for the week 1 loss and now are in first place in the very competitive AFC south.  This week they will travel to Philadelphia to face the Eagles who are coming off of a bye and will have Michael Vick back behind center.  The Eagles are undefeated coming off of a bye under Andy Reid but have never played the Colts well.  Should be an interesting matchup and one the Colts should be able to win.

4.  Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2) - The Steelers are the only team in our power rankings who lost on Sunday.  They ran into a buzz saw in the New Orleans Saints who were desperate for a win after being embarrassed at home against the Browns the week before.  This week they will travel to Cincinnati for a divisional matchup against the Bengals who swept the Steelers in '09.  This Steelers team is better than last year and this Bengals team is no where near as good as they were in 2009.  The Steelers will continue their winning ways this week, that is a guarantee.

5.  New York Giants (5-2) - The Giants have finally cracked their way into our top 5 and did so being idle during week 8.  Their defense has been playing out of their minds the past few weeks and if Eli Manning can stop throwing interceptions this team looks to be the one to beat in the NFC.  The Giants have to travel across the country to face the Seahawks on Sunday in a game in which they should win but it depends on which Seahawks team shows up this week.  If the Giants can figure out a way to beat the Seahawks they may have a chance to move up our power rankings.

Honorable Mentions:  New York Jets, Kansas City Chiefs, Atlanta Falcons, Green Bay Packers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

NFL Power Rankings - Week 9

More like the saints are playing "super bowl hangover" football.  I agree that they should be an honorable mention but they have many questionable losses.  Including getting spanked by the Browns - who the Chiefs beat.  The Chiefs have lost to the two top teams they have played - but by less than a touchdown both times.  Get over yourself - the Saints are not going to get respect until they have consistency.

NFL Power Rankings - Week 9

Only reason the Patriots won is because Brett Farve is to old to play
The Ravens has no problem winning next week. If they beat the steelers that easy they can beat the Dolphins.
The Colts also has no problem to win against the Eagles.
ONE thing to say about the steelers is to get rid of big ben. He takes way to long in the pocket and he dont move when he about to get tackled.
I dont know why he is throwing interceptions maybe he needs to get his head in the game and not worry about the injury he had earlier in the season.
I agree on the top eight.

NFL Power Rankings - Week 9

This shows just how ignorant you are of the NFL scheduling system.

The Bucs and the Saints play almost the exact same teams this year.  The Bucs have the same divisional opponents which equates to 6 common divisional games, the Bucs are playing every team in the NFC West once this season, as are the Saints which equates to 10 common games. The Bucs and the Saints play the same AFC teams as well.  The Steelers, the Bengals, the Browns, and the Ravens.

So thats 14/16 games in common on the schedule.

The ONLY difference in the schedules this year is that the redskins and lions.
The saints play the Vikings and the cowboys.

Furthermore the saints have their bi week later on down the stretch when it will be convenient. The bucs had theirs on week 4.

So, technically, the saints have had an easier schedule with the cowboys and vikings being worthless this year and the redskins and lions being respectable.

So, please don't talk about "superbowl schedules" and "weak" schedules.

NFL Power Rankings - Week 9

The Saints lost to Arizona and Cleveland teams that the Bucs beat. The Bucs record is what it is and they have beaten teams they are suppose to beat so they should be in the honorable mention.

NFL Power Rankings - Week 9

You're post is funny and not logical. Tough defensive game does not constitute laying it on someone. The better team did not win the game. they were outplayed on 1 night on the road! Game was in the balance until Heath fumbles so within 5min mark. But you're entitled to your opinion.

I cannot disagree with the top five but the "Honorable mentions" are illogical. The Bucs and Chiefs are playing "last place" schedules whereas the Saints are playing a "super bowl" champion schedule. Head to head the Saints destroyed the Bucs.A teams record is not always indicative of their strength. Even the lowly Vikings and Cowboys would consistently beat these teams.

Only Team Beat

The Saints laid it on the Steelers Sunday night.  They are a good team and should totally be on the list.  Their team is not even close to 100% because they have 4 major starters out right now.  The Saints are better than the Giants or Steelers.

It's nice to see my team back on top. I hope they can stay there after playing the Steelers, Colts, Jets, and Packers in the coming weeks. GO PATRIOTS!!!
