An Open Note to All Packer Fans...

...congrats, from a die-hard Steelers fan.

Your's was the better team from the opening whistle.  The Steelers had a good amount of Super Bowl experience compared to the Pack (only two players on their roster had ever played in a Super Bowl game), yet it was Green Bay who rose to occasion and made the plays they had to make.  The Steelers had too many costly turnovers and failed to force even one from the other side, which proved to be the difference maker.  That all being said, I was very proud of how my boys overcame all of their early mistakes and made a great game of it at the end.  It just wasn't enough to topple a great football team in the Packers who played fantastically well throughout the playoffs.

Green Bay has always been my favorite team from the NFC, and I have a great deal of respect for them.  I always wanted to see this Super Bowl matchup since my childhood, and we came very close a couple of times in the mid-to-late 90's.  After the '95 season, the Steelers qualified for the big game but faced the Cowboys who had defeated the Pack two weeks before.  Then two years later, Green Bay qualified for Super Bowl XXXII but the Steelers faltered to John Elway and the Broncos in the AFC Championship.

I got the matchup I wanted thirteen years later, and did it ever live up to the hype.  The loss stings quite a bit don't get me wrong, but I have had a lot of fun in the past six years as a Steelers fan and you need to take the tough losses in order to truly appreciate the big wins.  The Packers sit alone now for fourth place in Lombardis with four (and as we all know, own the most championships overall).  With the young nucleus they have in place they could be a formidable threat for years to come.  I hope to see a rematch in the Super Bowl someday between our two proud franchises.

Once again, congratulations to Cheeseheads've waited quite a while for trophy #4, and with the path you took to get through the playoffs on the road as the #6 seed, you definitely deserve this one.

Thank you blitz and congrats to the Steelers on their great season also. I have run across many Steeler fans on the boards and must say most were very classy on their comments. Of coarse there are allways your slugs from evey team and usually they are kids , new to the sport, or just hate life.LOL The Steelers are also a very well coached classy team. It showed in the post game interviews also. NO excuses! It doesn't get any better than that. It was a clean hard played game on both sides and could've went either way, even at the end. There were no dirty hits, no one trying injure anyone, and there were even opposing players laughing together on the field which I thought was awsome. You just dont see that very often in any game. Both these teams deserve to be there and they put on a very respectable show. You're a class act team with class act fans. I hope we both get there again next year! Maybe you could trade us Troy first. Laughing Good luck!!

An Open Note to All Packer Fans...

;     Blitz, man being a die hard Pittsburgh Steeler fan myself I could not have written a post any better. We as fans a lot of time try to make every excuse in the book as to why our team failed, we never want to admit that another team was better. Super Bowl XLV was won by bye the better team. I had an arguement with a host on our local sports talk radio about that very issue. He insisted that Pittsburgh was better because we shot ourselves in the foot the entire game and made the most mistakes.

Championship teams capitalize on the mistakes of the opposing team, and thats exactly what the Packers did. Think back to when the Steelers started turning the game around, Charles Woodson and Shields went out of the game on consecutive plays. Take away their best cover corner and we are able to open up the offense. The mistakes we made were caused by the Packers. Clay Matthews causing the  fumble and Roethlisberger getting hit on the big interception. While I watch the game I felt as though Aaron Rogers could drive down the field and get 6 points any time he wanted to. The secondary was so bad, and Will Gay is the worst cover corner in the NFL.

I comend you for being honest about the game and if a team is better then theres nothing we as fans can do about it. I was disappointed for sure, but on the other hand I can't stand Brett Favre so to see Rogers win a Super Bowl to get out of that #4 shadow. I can live with that. After all we are the 6 time world champions......GO STEELERS

Thank you blitz, always respected the Steelers as a franchise, but not for the bandwagon fans that dominate the boards. Steeler fans like you truly represent the Steeler fans that graciously wear the black and yellow while knowing the full history of the Steelers.
