10 things the Cowboys must do before next season.

Posted on: December 27, 2010 2:00 pm

The Dallas Cowboys future looks pretty good actually. What the need to do is:

1st. Hire Coach Garret.
2nd. Get a bonafide Defensive Coach.
3rd. Release Marion Barber (Over paid and under producing)
4th. Release Roy E. Williams (Same as above message)
5th. Start to get a Good O-line.
6th. Look in the Draft for a Very Good Safety (Free or Strong)
7th. Get a Shut-down Cornerback.
8th. Possibly look to add a very Good back-up QB for Romo (Kitna is Good, but Old), Possibly McNabb ?
9th. A Excellent Middle linebacker is always good for a Good Defense (Chi/Bal etc.)
10th. Trade Terrance Newman for a High Draft Pick

10 things the Cowboys must do before next season.

Excellent post.
1st - The probability of Garrett becoming Head Coach is pretty good at this point.
2nd - GET A KICKER
3rd - Agree with getting solid Def Coach
4th - See ya Williams (WRs on reserve are better, Jerry just has a hard time letting go to the financial side of the Williams deal)
5th - See ya Marion (Jones and Choice are sufficient)
6th - Strengthen the secondary.  WAY TOO many big plays being given up.
7th - Depth / A replacement on the O line would help
8th - McGee will be a SOLID backup.  No need to go spending the cash on someone with an ego to add more problems.
9th - I agree with some LB help
10th - Newman seems like hes lying down for some plays out there when they start falling behind.  Kick him in the A$$ or trade him.

10 things the Cowboys must do before next season.

I like what you did here, but you need to move your list to 2-11.  The number 1 problem is your owner.  Don't get me wrong, his interest and desire to make them a great team are second to none.  He needs to hire a "football" guy, and let him call the shots.  They will never win it all, if he doesn't back off, and let someone else do it!

10 things the Cowboys must do before next season.

*pick up MLB in 6th round, not 7th. He'll be a back up to Lee and James.

10 things the Cowboys must do before next season.

1. Hire Garrett
2. Release Marion Barber, Roy E. Williams, Alan Ball, Keith Brooking, Marc Columbo and Leonard Davis
3. Revamp the right o-line like they did with Doug Free at LT
4. Draft a Safety with first pick
5. Pick up a good DB in free agency
6. Keep Kitna and McGee (McNabb? are you kidding me? He's done!)
7. Replace Brooking with Lee and pick up another MLB in 2nd round
8. Replace the entire defensive coaching staff and hire a new one
9. Hire a GM to replace Jerry Jones (not that it's going to happen)
10. Hire a better o-line coach. Idk why our oline ALWAYS ends up on the ground during run plays.

2011 Draft:

round 1: Safety
round 2: RT
round 3: RG
round 4: CB
round 5: WR
round 6: MLB
round 7: DT

10 things the Cowboys must do before next season.

1. Keep Garrett as the offensive coordinator not the head coach
2. Find a Head Coach that preaches discipline, ie somebody that doesnt tolerate laziness and mediocrity
3. Get rid of the dead weight. if you arent contributing to the success of the team adios
4. revamp the defense completely
5. find a back up qb or add a lot more depth at qb because romo is going to get killed
6. find someone to work with buehler, he's a good kicker and athlete. this is his only his first year as the place kicker
7. let felix jones carry the ball more. choice and barber are change of pace backs.
8. cut ticket prices. who in the hell can afford to go to a cowboys game? the real fans can't.
9. hire a GM.
10. stop giving huge contracts to players who only have one good year.

now a lot of these changes are going to take a while to make the cowboys better, but making these move are a step in the right direction.
