NFL Officiating....

The officiating has been poor to terrible in the playoffs this year.  Outside of the NYJ/Cincy game, there were either to many flags(Dallas/Philly), or missed or no calls.

I have no real complaints about the NYJ/Cincy game, I thought that game was officiated well enough to get by.  The Dallas/Philly game was littered with flags.  This is playoff football, let them play.  Keep your hankie in your pocket and let the players decide who won or lost the game.

The NE/Balt game had a few calls that were suspect.  The first being the muffed punt by Baltimore and New England recovering the ball.  The rules of a fumble recovery are that of a completed pass reception.  You must maintain control of the ball all the way to the ground, well clearly that wasn't the case with the fumble recovery.  The ball came out as he hit the ground out of bounds, and the replays clearly showed him bobbling the ball through out the entire recovery process.  Now, I understand that Harbaugh didn't challenge the play, and that was his and his coaching staff upstairs faults, but the official on the spot should have realized that he didn't maintain control all the way to the ground.

Secondly, the McGahee 2 point conversion attempt.  He clearly had the ball secured to his chest, and his chest did cross the goal line, so that right there should be enough evidence to reverse the call done on the field.  Well they blew 2 chances at that one.  I applaud the officials for that as well.  I probably sound like a Baltimore homer or something, but Brady did enough for the Pats to blow the game without these 2 oversights on the part of the officials.

And finally the Green Bay/Arizona game.  I could write a book about this game, but in a summary.  Woodson was the victim most of the game here.  Both Fitzgerald TD's were the result of uncalled push offs to clear space to catch and run.  Joe Buck and Troy Aikman(possibly the worst duo to broadcast a game) said on the first TD that "Woodson fell down", clean out your eyes and you'll see he was pushed to ground by Fitzgerald.

The final drive of the game had 2 notable "non-calls."  The first being a helmet to helmet hit on Rodgers by Bertrand Berry.  The play was out in the open for everyone to see and it was conveniently missed.  The second being the face mask on the fumble that won the game for the Cards.  You mean to tell me they put that on the ref BEHIND the play, he couldn't see it.  And with all the other officials on the field not one of them saw that play.  Rediculous.

There have been gripes and rumblings all season long about the officiating, but for the officiating to decide the outcome of a playoff game, in my opinion that is just absurd.  Again these are just my opinions, feel free to argue them all you want.

NFL Officiating....

On MSNBC.com they showed a pic of A-rodgrz and the dude was clearly grabing him in the mask.
Maybe they listened to you.
Let them play.
In my mind, you missed nothing, but I may be wrong.

NFL Officiating....

Well said, I couldn't agree more with you on the GB/ARZ game.  And Joe Buck is a complete idiot.  He wouldn't be in the business if it weren't for his father...

I said after the no call on the helmet to helmet that if that were tom brady, it would have been called in a heart beat!  I truly believe that...
