NASCAR responded to last weekend's incident between Robby Gordon and Kevin Conway which saw the two drivers engaged in an altercation at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The sanctioning body placed Gordon on probation through the end of the season after investigating the incident in which the drivers were involved in a fight in the garage area after Friday night's practice.

From NASCAR Release

NASCAR announced today that Robby Gordon, driver of the No. 7 car in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, has been placed on probation until Dec. 31 for a rule infraction he committed March 4 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Gordon was penalized for violating Section 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing; involved in an altercation in the garage area with another competitor) of the 2011 NASCAR rule book.

NASCAR places Gordon on probation

Something tells me that JG, JJ and Junior would not have been given the same treatment.

I agree with NASCAR and I know Robby's temperment.  Kudos for addressing an issue before it could blow up BIGTIME!  Garage fighting should not be allowed as that is detrimental to the sport, "Have at it " is on the track.  Robby Gordon wants to race full time, he is not a "Start and Park" driver he leaves everything on the track and sometime a little off it. He is a passionate, intense driver whose former driver left his team taking a substantial sponsor with him, I get it.  The punishment fits the crime here.  Robby, focus on racing and you will get a better sponsor you are a good driver!

NASCAR places Gordon on probation

I don't know if any of the Golden Boys act like R. Gordon - they sure don't have his financial problems. Cream rises to the top while Gordon seems to sink further in the minds of fans and more importantly sponsors.

It's about time someone got in "Conman" Conway's face. Go Robby. I'm not a real fan of his, but NASCAR is going to look like fools on this decision.

Gordon is a waste of a position on the track. He seems to never finish a race. With that being said, I thought it was "go at it boys"? They dont do anything to Carl edwards for his crap last year but, Robby gets a whole year probation for an off track action?hmmm

Its funny how hard Nascar continues to be on Robbie. How would this have played out if it were one of the Golden Boys and not just lowly old Robbie?
