Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne is in the middle of a strange situation that saw the young driver get bitten by an insect last week. The aftermath has left Bayne with a swollen arm and a visit to a North Carolina hospital for treatment.
Originally Bayne's arm was swollen in the early part of the week but things subsided Thursday morning. However the problem reappeared on Saturday to the point that when Bayne returned from Saturday night's Samsung Mobile 500 at Texas Motor Speedway he checked into a North Carolina hospital at approximately 2 a.m.
Bayne's Twitter account gave this description:
"Not sure if it's a spider bite or a tick bite but either way I'm in a hospital bed with a needle in my arm!
More information is expected on Bayne's condition later on Sunday as he remains under observation.
