Harvick, Ky. Busch fined, placed on probation

NASCAR has fined Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch each $25,000 and placed both drivers on probation through June 15 for a post-race incident Saturday night at Darlington.

Harvick frist broke the news through his Twitter acount (@KevinHarvick): "4 weeks probation and $25,000 fine....I understand because of the car on pit road."

Harvick and Busch were involved in a crash with four laps to go at Darlington. Intially Clint Bowyer tried to take them three wide, but contact with Harvick sent him spinning. Harvick and Busch were going to escape trouble, but then Busch appeared to intentionally hook Harvick.

When Harvick attempted to confront Busch after the race, Busch was having none of it. With the two parked on pit road -- Busch behind Harvick-- Harvick climbed from his car and as he ran up to Busch's car, Busch stepped on the gas, pushing Harvick's car into the pit road wall and drove off.

Officials then called the two drivers into the NASCAR hauler and both played coy as to what was said behind closed doors.

"These penalties are a result of what occurred on pit road after the race was over," said Kerry Tharp, senior director for communications. "They are about maintaining a safe environment on pit road."

Here's video of the incident:

Harvick, Ky. Busch fined, placed on probation

Okay let's look at this somewhat logically,

1)  It's Darlington, which is notorious for not having any room to run.

2)  There's less than 10 to go, so it's time to make your move and get with it.

3)  You're in the Top 10 and going for the win, so that makes oh sh!t-a-meter multiply by a factor of 5.

Harvick should have known that if he'd waited a lap or so, traffic would have sorted it self out and the oppurtunity would have been better, even more so, Bowyer should have been smarter than to try to go three wide at Darlington.  Unfortunately Harvick has the metalilty that everyone should move out of his way, and well, Kyle Busch isn't moving out of anyone's way.  I doubt if he would have moved out of Dale Earnhardt Sr.'s way if he were still here!

I do not agree with what either driver did, and I feel the punishment fit the crime for Harvick... With that being said, Kyle Busch DESERVED a much stiffer penalty than this. What he did was so much worse, by stepping on the gas and shoving an unmanned car out of the way and bouncing it off the pit wall was so dangerous. There were people down there not involved that could have been seriously hurt by his ignorance and childish behavior. He should be SUSPENDED rather than just put on double secret probation.

Harvick, Ky. Busch fined, placed on probation

I saw the end of the race and Harvick did the exact same thing to Busch one lap prior in the same spot when Busch was on the inside... it was obvious...and Harvick is a wussy.....if you want to fight, get out of your car before your body guard comes to save you! If anything, Harvick should be fined double what Busch was for starting it and not letting it go.....

Either way, I could care less who was at fault.

The fact remains that one drive did all he could to run and hide, like he always does, andthe other driver didn't. Only one wuss ran and hid, only one wuss does that every single time things don't go his way.

Personally, I don't think either should have been fined or pnealized in anyway. It's freaking racing, tempers flare, paybacks and regrets happen, but all of you kryle fans can say what you want, there was only one driver running scared and it was KB the DB.

Obviously I touched a nerve on the "3" fan. Oooo, do you hold up 3 fingers on the 3rd lap like the other jackhole lovers?
Sr. put others lives at risk every time he didn't have the talent to get around them.Got exactly what he deserved. If Kyle don't smarten up, the karma will get him too

Just out of curiosity , but what exactly is it that you hope helps me sleep better?  I wasn't aware I was having any problems sleeping.  So I guess I should be thanking you for informing of that fact, but now that I know I would love to know exactly what will help fix this problem now that I know I have it.  Any additional information you could give me on how to fix my sleeping problems would be much appreciated.  Thanks in advance

, Your post seemed as some type of justification for you to LIKE Kryle Bich. Yes, the guy is an incredible driver, one of if not the best out there now. Yet he still get's bashed..why? because he is a whiney little brat, that has a reputation of running and hiding when things don't go his way.

You can rationalize and defelct, and make all the BS comparisons you want to make up, but he will still be that great driving piss poor attitude in dire need of a ass whipping little prick he has always been.

As for the sleeping better, it was basically  a coment on you justifying to yourself, and the peole here why you like such a prick, and I sincerely hope the BS you posted helps you sleep better. that's it.

I love everyone whining about a slap on the wrist. In case you've forgotten, this is "boys have at it." NASCAR has been lenient since the start of last season. Quit citing fines and penalties from years ago that mean nothing now. Especially with the new points system, anyone bitching about a 100 point penalty or whatever is insane seeing as hwo that is several races worth of points now.
