Kyle Busch doesn't leave his job at the office when he's not racing. Busch was cited for driving 128 mph in a 45 mph zone Tuesday afternoon. Here's a report from the Statesville Record & Landmark:

TROUTMAN, NC - NASCAR driver Kyle Busch was cited for careless and reckless driving after deputies said they clocked him doing nearly three times the posted speed limit Tuesday afternoon.

Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Chris Stone, a member of the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) team, stopped a yellow Lexus sports car after he clocked it doing 128 mph in a 45 mph zone on Perth Road near Judas Road, between Troutman and Mooresville.

Busch, driver of the No. 18 Mars/Interstate Batteries Toyota Camry, was cited for careless and reckless driving and speeding, said Lt. Troy Miller, who supervises the ACE team for the sheriff’s office.

In a statement issued late Tuesday, Busch acknowledged what happened.

"I was test-driving a new sports car and I got carried away," Busch said. "I went beyond the speed I should have been going on a public road. I apologize to the public, my fans, sponsors, and race teams for my lack of judgment."

Busch, who drives for Joe Gibbs Racing, accepted responsibility and said it would never happen again.

NASCAR spokesman Kerry Tharp said Busch would be allowed to race this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway. He's coming off a second-place finish in Saturday night's All-Star Race, and goes into the Coca-Cola 600 ranked third in the Sprint Cup Series standings.

"This is a matter that Kyle will have to handle with the authorities in Iredell County," Tharp said. "Based on what we know right now, this would not impact his status as a NASCAR driver."

In 2006, Busch pleaded guilty to improper driving and was fined $150 after he was ticketed in suburban Richmond, Va., on a reckless driving charge when he pulled out of a gas station and into a fast-food restaurant. Busch said at the time he "chirped" his tires but didn't exceed 10 mph.

Under a misdemeanor reckless driving charge he originally faced, Busch could have received up to one year in jail, a $2,500 fine and a driver's license suspension.

Last month, Busch was placed on probation through June 15 after he and Kevin Harvick confronted each other in the pits after a race at Darlington Raceway.

And to all those whining about how he should be in jail... no. Canada has a law where if you go 50 kmh over the limit, you lose your license immediately and your car is impounded. That is about as strict as I've seen. You might go to jail here, if you are intoxicated. People blow speeding out of proportion because all of you who whine about it do it every damn day. Give it a rest, otherwise, you all better be perfect little angels every day instead of complaining about someone else.
His right to speed is greater than a kids right to life?  Wow you criminal apologists are sickening.  And if you drive over 100 in almost every state, you go to jail for careless & reckless.  Why do you hate safety and laws so much?

RickyP, first you bitch and whine about NASCAR. Then you show support of wrestling, which shows just how much of a hick you are, and now you support Edwards? I think someone has been dropped in the flood waters a few too many times.

If this were an NFL or NBA athlete people would want the thug thrown in jail, fined, banned from the league, and have all his assets frozen.

Racing is his profession, he should be fined and suspended by his employers.  As far as the public goes I would demand some community service or a large donation to quarter midget associations to help those who are struggling to compete.

P.S. I really dislike this guy but damn he is a hella of a driver.
