Team owner Richard Childress and Kyle Busch were involved in an altercation after Saturday's NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Kansas Speedway.

Busch and RCR driver Joey Coulter were racing hard in the closing laps of Saturday's race won by Clint Bowyer. The duo made contact several times while racing to the finish line as well as after the checkered flag on the cool down lap.

That reportedly upset Childress enough that he approached Busch in the garage area and after removing his jewelry landed at least one punch before being separated by NASCAR officials.

Following the race Coulter did not indicate there were any problems racing with Busch for the fifth place finish.

“I learned a ton behind (Busch) and I know why those guys keep saying what they do. That was really awesome racing him,” Coulter said. “I hate we got together on the last lap. I had never gotten tight next to somebody, so I was underneath him expecting to get loose, and I get tight and we kind of got together.”

Neither Busch or Childress and their respective teams had comment following the incident.

NASCAR officials said they were investigating.

Richard Childress, Kyle Busch involved in fight

Who cares! Look at the number of folks in the seats and you can figure out that NASCAR doesn't represent racing anymore and cares less about maintaining a fan base. NASCAR's day has come and gone. Would rather go out to the local track and watch real racers than these buffoons. Try to watch NASCAR on TV, but get tired of listening to the obviously fake southern accents from announcers on FOX and ESPN . Put NASCAR out of it's misery and support local tracks and racers.

Richard Childress, Kyle Busch involved in fight

While I think it's Great that someone finally stepped up and gave Kyle a beating (something he has deserved for a long, long time); In this instance, it was NOT justified;  Tire-Rubs after races have long been accepted---Even teammates give them after a race (case in point--A.J. Almendinger to KK after the infineon race a couple years ago); congratulating him on the win.  NOW, if you want to go and beat the HELL out of Kyle after he deliberately spins someone; or shoves their car into the wall--then GO AT IT BOYS (and grandpas) Tongue out  Coulter raced him hard---i think he respected that.

Can't believe all the people who think it's ok to assault someone.  KB gets a speeding ticket and people want nascar to throw the book at him.  Wonder what the same people will say to do with Childress.  So far they think he should get a medal.  I think he should be arrested and thrown out of Nascar.

Childress and Busch involved in fight

I guess Childress and Harvick are getting tired of 1 driver kicking the sh*t out of their multi team drivers in all 3 top tiers of NASCAR.  Either that or Childress is jealous that Joe Gibbs has the closet thing on the track, to BIG "E" since Feb. 18, 2001.

Nobody can deny that Kyle Busch is one of, if not the most talented driver on the track right now and he has what NASCAR has been missing for quite sometime, (like it or not) a colorful personality.

In the words of "The Intimidator" himself, "I'd rather hear the fans booing rather then not making any noise at all"
Talent and the "Boo Birds" are what made Dale Earnhardt Sr. famous and thanks go out to all the RCR/Earnhardt fans and drivers because with Kyle's talent, mixed with your public hatered and/or jealousy, your making him famous too.  (and if you don't beleive that just talent alone won't make you famous, ask Jimmy Johnson)  The only exceptions to the rule are Richard Petty, who is by far the most likable and talented driver in NASCAR history and Dale Jr. who is the least talented driver in NASCAR history, but one of the most popular (thank GOD for riding coat tails UH Jr.?)

Wake up and quite living in the past.  Kyle may or may not, ever be as great a driver as Dale Sr., only time will tell, but your hatred and/or jealousy of him is causing you to turn a blind eye on some obviously great talent, like him or not!

Go Joe Gibbs Racing!
Go Kyle Busch Racing!

Go Kyle Busch! ( and thanking you for reviving NASCAR)

Childress and Busch involved in fight

SO, here's what I get out of this: Kyle Busch gets beat for one position on the last lap of the race by an RCR truck. On the cool down lap, Busch knocks the door Coulters truck on purpose. Then, in the garage, a 65 year old Childress beats KuBu's face in. That about sums it up, right?

Again, KuBu gets away with something and will only remain on probation. Whatever, way to go NASCAR and glaze right over the fact that he pulled his stunt again of knocking autos around again. Childress did the right thing. It's about time someone beat the kids a$$. Kyle has had this coming since Hendrick released him.

It's also nice to see NASCAR getting some dirt going too. It's good for the sport right now. They need the fans to come back and things like this (even though it's negitive) could bring them back.SH

lindro99: you memory must be real short term. I guess you missed Kyle hooking Harvick the other week & take him out on purpose. He's a young guy with no regards as to who he hits & why. Just to proove what an idiot he is with ZERO regard for others I'll remind you of his speeding at 128mph in a 45mph zone. That's a responsible driver! Childress had no business doing what he did, but it doesn't change the fact Kyle's an IDIOT! To the guy who compaired Kyle to Dale Sr. WTFU! He never was or will he be that good!

Childress and Busch involved in fight

I'm no NASCAR hater but as you said the facts speak for themselves, there is no argument that it is losing it's fan base at a rapid pace,it shows in attendance,tv ratings, etc.Any true race fan knows NASCAR sold out years ago as did other forms of racing,it's all about the money, you have money and a sponsor you have a ride.Tony Stewart would race Indycar and open wheel if it weren't for the big money he makes inNASCAR, which by the way is far more exciting than watching soap box derby cars go round and round.Anyone that can sit and watch a full NASCAR race on a beautiful day needs to get a life,a rainy day's just plain boring......on a closing note ,do you really believe  Danica is deserving of a cup ride and there are no better drivers out there without one or is all about the money?     Go Daddy !

Childress and Busch involved in fight

Way to go Richard Childress - live just 2 blocks from you!-and been fan of all the RCR drivers - especially Big E! (And also a big fan of the 'King'/Petty family and drivers--they just couple counties over!)

About time someone knocked Kyle Busch off his young punk benge he's been on (and need to couple others)! You don't endanger others on the REAL road, keep it on the track - you could kill someone or destroy something that doesn't belong to you - you need your license taken for over a year, and no racing (or the pay) for over a year - then and only then will you 'feel' the rough life and how it feels to be just one of us 'common folk' - we can't 'take over' you all's tracks and drive at speed we want...

"Book him Danno" - keep him out the 'loop' - once he's lost it all - he'll know how it feels to be just 'common folk' - are your parents happy, prob. are - sitting back, fat, rich and happy their kid made the news - not a way to make the news--sounds like you joined the idiot 'Balloon Boy and family' in their stupidity - you all from same territory, related?!

God help your sorry soul - endanger yourself, not others, or GET OFF THE ROAD AND THE TRACK! Trash you have become!
