Team owner Richard Childress and Kyle Busch were involved in an altercation after Saturday's NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Kansas Speedway.

Busch and RCR driver Joey Coulter were racing hard in the closing laps of Saturday's race won by Clint Bowyer. The duo made contact several times while racing to the finish line as well as after the checkered flag on the cool down lap.

That reportedly upset Childress enough that he approached Busch in the garage area and after removing his jewelry landed at least one punch before being separated by NASCAR officials.

Following the race Coulter did not indicate there were any problems racing with Busch for the fifth place finish.

“I learned a ton behind (Busch) and I know why those guys keep saying what they do. That was really awesome racing him,” Coulter said. “I hate we got together on the last lap. I had never gotten tight next to somebody, so I was underneath him expecting to get loose, and I get tight and we kind of got together.”

Neither Busch or Childress and their respective teams had comment following the incident.

NASCAR officials said they were investigating.

Childress and Busch involved in fight

I'm sorry did Kyle wreck this kid last night ? And when did he wreck someone going for a win in the last 2or 3 years? Kyle has a bad reputation as being reckless from his first couple of years, now he races people clean, the stigma stays with some fans but I would guarantee most drivers have zero problem with how he drives.

Childress and Busch involved in fight

Childress should be suspended from nascar for the rest of the season. He's an owner, not a racer. All of a sudden this guy cares about a truck he owns getting knocked around, try to make it about money? He doesnt like Kyle and decided to go crazy. I love how these guys love to try and get into fist fights with a guy who clearly does not want to. Harvick acts like he's Manny Paquiao when it comes to starting fights with Kyle Bush, I would love to see what he would do if he had an issue with Carl edwards. I'll tell you what he'd do, he'd stay in his race car. So far I've seen Harvick challenge Kyle and Juan montoya to fights. He's a typical bully, and it looks like it's rubbing off on his car owner.

Childress and Busch involved in fight

Good Stuff USM1985 - I raced the Regional NASCAR Soutwest Tour series for a few years and I can tell you what Kyle did is NORMAL. Joey Coulter pulled a slide job on Kyle coming off turn four on the last lap. Instead of Kyle staying in the gas (it's his line) he got out of it to avoid wrecking both trucks and maybe more. On the cool off lap Kyle went and bumped Joey to let him know he didn't appreciate Joey's move. Nothing wrong with this people, he didn't crash him, he just laid on him - NASCAR will do ZIP, NOTHING to Kyle for what happened.

Richard Childress decided to take things in to his own hands (taking off his wrist watch) walked up to Kyle grabbed him around the neck and nailed him two times in the head before it was broken up, that's normally called assult. Richard is no different the his P.O.S. driver Kevin Harvick, always wining about poor me and then they nail you with a sucker punch. Use to really be a fan of Childress but between Harvicks BS this year and now this, not so much.

Look for NASCAR to do something about this and it's not going to be Kyle.

Childress and Busch involved in fight

I have no great love for Kyle Busch but, Childress is showing his true colors now. Face it, for years Childress has had the bad boys of NASCAR driving for him. Earnhardt SR would dump anyone he thought he needed to during a race. (Most famously Terry Labonte) He was just better at it than most. DW stated that SR could wreck you and then come to the pits and explain why it was your fault and you believed him. When Harvick came in he tried to be little Earnhardt. He wrecked a lot of drivers and still does if he feels they will not fight back. Childress has no complaint against rough driving and if all that happened is what I saw then there is really nothing to complain about. Rubbing and bumping happens between drivers every week after the race.
Besides, Kyle does not need to be punished. He already got beat by a 65 year old man. What more punishment does he need than to live with the knowledge that he may be a great driver in the car, but out of the car he is the whipping boy of NASCAR. Maybe he needs to hire a bodyguard.

says the guy from Indiana.  This WWF has been in my family for generations.  You wanna tell the greats who tied themselves in their cars with rope that this sport is fake or WWF like?  It's very dangerous and tention levels are extremely high on the track and off.

Childress and Busch involved in fight

Childress seems to have acted like a baby.  Bush is the new Dale Sr - only for some reason they lionize and worship at the Dale Sr altar and have a problem with the way Bush races.  It's the exact same, people!

Guys like Rowdy make it exciting.  He has no problem playing the villain and he lets the racing speak for him.  Just like in baseball the players can police themselves.  I cringe at the thought of Childress getting in a fight with his false teeth and shoe-polished hair.  He just figured he'd throw a punch and people would separate them - which is I'm sure what happened.  Childress embarassed himself and his great great grandkids.

How about this:  1.  Childress has warned Baby Busch in the past about "tearing" up equipment.  2.  Coulter, is trying to establish himself in the Truck Series.  Childress OWNS that vehicle.  I'm not sure if Baby Busch is racing in the truck series for his own ego or what, but he should be giving a little more respect to those who are working at making a living in that series.  GO CHILDRESS!!

Dont kid yourself moron, Tennis players are probably better athletes than most of the players in the NFL, MLB, NHL, and NBA.  And i want you to name me any ATHLETE that can get behind the wheel of those cars and run 200 mph an inch off the bumper of the driver in front of them.  If you dont like NASCAR, dont watch. Facts are this, you quit watching and 10 more people start watching. The fastest growing sport in America, like it or not.  And we, Nascar fans, dont have to worry about lockouts and strikes from our prissy a$$ players and whiney a$$ owners.
