North Carolina is terrible.

They are absolutely pathetic.

I watch this Roy Williams-coached team full of McDonald's All-Americans and future NBA first round picks, and I wonder how they could be so bad.  I know they're young.  I know it's a rebuilding year.  I know they just lost Tyler Hansbrough and his irreplaceable Texas-style ping-pong skills.  But, rebuilding and awful are two completely different things.  And this team is awful.

If you or someone you know, can explain to me how this team has managed to lose nearly every single ACC game this season including seven of their last eight, please contact me at  I'm not kidding.  Seriously, e-mail me.  I really want to know how they're so bad.  I don't get it.

As far as tonight's game goes, Florida State won 77-67 but it never was a close contest.  North Carolina was down 20+ at one point in the game.  Fans were fleeing the Dean Dome faster than you could say "NIT Bubble".  And when I say fans, I mean the handful that were in attendance.  The upper-level of the Dean Dome was completely empty.  The lower level had patches of die hard fans still living in the glory from 2009.  But for the most part, the fans have given up on this team and I don't blame them.

Now it's time for us to move on to Morehead State to see some competitive basketball.

Dean Dome, it's been real.

Thanks for our second round of Bojangle's Famous Chicken'n Biscuits for the day and good luck in the future.  Get some new chairbacks, too.  Your current setup is incredibly uncomfortable.

The problem?  Roy.

I am not a Carolina fan, but I have always liked Roy Williams (honestly).  I think he's a great coach.  But on several occassions earlier this year, I believe he decided to play a little poker with the team, and played the wrong hand.   In January, during several press conferences, he called his players out - individually.   He threw Drew under the bus,  And another player I can't remember at this time, saying something to the effect of, "I told him (player), 'This is practice number 30 son!'"  "If they don't get it in practice, then whose fault is that?" (oaraphrase).

There were other comments.  Then, on a radio show Roy blasted the ever-passionate UNC fan base:  "I have more desire in my little pinky than the entire UNC fan base combined."  (paraphrase)

I believe Roy was practicing a little psychology with his players, but it backfired.  The losses got worse, uglier.  And then in early February the players started "doing as had been done unto them," by calling out Roy a bit.  Said Drew after the GA Tech game, "Coach will probably say we gave up, but we didn't..."

Yikes.  Not flaming, but one can read between the lines there (i.e., coach  doesn't believe in us, and we don't care for his style either).

With chemistry, and the Tarheel's record going all to Hell, the  runaway train was doomed.

Last night, there it was.   A spattering of Carolina fans in the dead Dean Dome, watching a dead team play with the absolute minimal effort.  Just show up, go through the motions.   Post-season hopes.....dead.

And once again, the players were talking.   The following quote by Drew doesn't exactly inspire hope and belief:

“I guess people are tired of wasting their money. “I don’t blame them.”

UNC’s Larry Drew on the empty seats in the Dean Dome after UNC’s miserable January and February

So, to summarize:  I believe that for whatever reason, Roy didn't "bring it" this season.  When one player stinks, that's one thing, but when an entire team (that beat Mich. State in December and barely lost to Kentucky) tanks, the finger must point to the leader....Roy.

really? your name says ksr freak, so I assume you read kentuckysportsradio.  This is exactly what they do on KSR except now it is involving more than just Ky athletics.  So why would you expect anything else, I want the irreverent and arrogant views, its a comical way to look at things.  And as for embarassing uk fans, what about the racial slurs thrown at Devon Downey, what about the national steriotypes thrown out about eastern ky and the appalachins, that is much more embarrasing than being able to look at sports with a sense of humor.

Just end the suffering and this godawful road trip and come home.  When you started, you promised that you would represent Kentucky fans well .... and sadly you have not.  You have shown the bad side of the UK fan base, the one that is arrogant and tht has no respect for the other schools fanbases   ... so far, the nation has suffered through multiple stories about press room food, an interview with a moustache, and multiple attacks on other schools.  Is this what CBS paid for?

And now we hear of a midnight visit to Cameron Indoor Stadium.  Matt you are not Tucker Max.  You are representing the KEntucky fans... and you are embarassing most of us

UNC does realize they've only won 5 NCAA Championships, right?  Because Helms national championships don't count. Desperate times...

Drew, they have 5 NCAA titles. Also, who would have thought that Kansas would beat N. Carolina to 2000 wins?
