White Sox GM: 'changes need to be made'

Posted on: June 9, 2010 8:53 pm

The White Sox have started the season 24-33 and general manager Kenny Williams tells the Chicago Sun-Times , "Some changes need to take place."

Williams expanded, "I don't know what and I don't when but some changes need to take place. Things aren't happening the way that we envisioned and when they don't happen the way you envision you've got to make an adjustment."

Williams wouldn't say he's ready for a full-on fire sale, but did say, "I have to listen. It's not that I want to, but I'm not blind."

The White Sox have a $103 million payroll, and among those who could be shipped off are first baseman Paul Konerko (in the final year of a five-year, $60 million contract), catcher A.J. Pierzynski (third year of a three-year, $18.35 million contract), reliever Bobby Jenks (on a one-year, $7.5 million contract) and reliever Scott Linebrink (third year of a four-year, $19 million contract).
