Report says Valentine is Marlins' choice

Bobby Valentine Could Bobby Valentine be the Marlins manager by next week?

The New York Daily News ' Mark Feinsand cites an anonymous source saying Florida owner Jeffrey Loria has already settled on the former Mets manager.

Feinsand cites a source "with knowledge of the Marlins' thinking."

"I'd say it's about 95 percent that it will be Valentine," the mysterious source told Feinsand. "Loria has already told him he's his guy."

It would make sense, Valentine is reportedly friends with Loria and as soon as Fredi Gonzalez was fired, Valentine pulled his name from consideration for the Orioles' position.

Marlins president David Samson confirmed to reporters on Wednesday that Valentine is a candidate and the team has already spoken to the veteran manager.

Report says Valentine is Marlins' choice

And just because Braves fans are still angry about all those Mets-Braves clashes from years ago, that isn't any reason to try and take Bobby V down any notches.  What he did for the Mets back then was great for that team and the city.
Nice try, grumpy patches!

Bobby V. hasn't been able to land a job in the majors in yearsWhat kind of line is that?? He's been in Japan for a while and had success there obviously.  It's not like every potential manager is just supposed to leap back into MLB in record time just because they are available.  Whassamatta you??

He's a great manager and will do well.

Report says Valentine is Marlins' choice

Please...do not compare Valentine to Bobby Cox.  There is absolutely no comparison.

Report says Valentine is Marlins' choice

Cox won more than Valentine did.
Let's compare:

Cox -   5 World Series appearances, winning one

Valentine -  1 World Series appearance, winning none.

Cox  - 14 straight division titles...hmmm

Valentine -  zero

Cox -  2nd winningest active manager

Valentine -  nobody knows

So, do you not remember the World Series he took the Mets to? The one in which we had a bunch of over the hill players with no starting rotation? Yeah, he can't manage for beans.

Wish you would come back to New York Bobby V...

and, Bobby Cox won how many World Series? As one of the last fans of the fading Braves, you shouldn't be so harsh on other managers! When your Braves win another World Series, you can puff up your chest and crow. Until then, do us a favor and shut up!

Bobby V was a good manager for the mets. Always thight he was a bit over rated. When he left you could see that the mets team was not as good without him though.

Please hire Valentine!

As a Braves fan, I too hope and pray the Marlins hire Bobby Valentine. Yep, he is the best man for the job as far as I am concerned. I hope they sign him $110 million over 10 years.

If not him, how about Phil Garner? They have both had about the same amount of "success" - never won a division, two post season appearances (one NLCS loss and one World Series loss).

Also, way to jerk Edwin Rodriguez and the New Orleans Zephyrs around, Marlins. Are they really going to send him back down to the minors?
