Report says Valentine is Marlins' choice

Bobby Valentine Could Bobby Valentine be the Marlins manager by next week?

The New York Daily News ' Mark Feinsand cites an anonymous source saying Florida owner Jeffrey Loria has already settled on the former Mets manager.

Feinsand cites a source "with knowledge of the Marlins' thinking."

"I'd say it's about 95 percent that it will be Valentine," the mysterious source told Feinsand. "Loria has already told him he's his guy."

It would make sense, Valentine is reportedly friends with Loria and as soon as Fredi Gonzalez was fired, Valentine pulled his name from consideration for the Orioles' position.

Marlins president David Samson confirmed to reporters on Wednesday that Valentine is a candidate and the team has already spoken to the veteran manager.

You can't be a Marlins fan -- they don't exist :)

Seriously, though, as a Mets fan this is a bittersweet moment for me.  I was hoping that Jerry would get fired and Wilpon would bring Valentine back, but then, inexplicably, the Mets started winning.  Good luck, Bobby V.  We'll always love you in New York.

Instead the Mets have Jerry "uhhhh, ummm, yeahh,,,uhhhhhh,,uhhhhhh yeahh" Manuel.

Between him and Omar I dont know how anyone communicates over there

Marlins are basement bound

Valentine sucks.  I shouldn't have to elaborate since everyone already knows this.  Why can't ballteams bring in new people instead of rehashing old trash?  Let's hope the Marlins do better than this.

Hmm He could not make a winner out of the Mets why would anyone think he could DO any better with the Marlins

I can't believe im agreeing with a Red sox fan, but thats exactly what I thought. Bobby V. hasn't been able to land a job in the majors in years so I don't know what would be so great about having him as the Marlins manager.

Bobby Valentine is the best. I wish he would return to the Mets, but if that is not possible, at least we'll get to see him versus the marlins. I can't wait.

Marlins fan here - I hope and pray every night we hire Bobby V - Even before Fredi got fired I would always hope we wouldve done it sooner to hire Bobby V bu it is soon to come it seems. As one of you said, we do have mostly young players and Bobby V does work well with them - I just hope that though he seems to be a players coach that he too will be a disciplinarian to our guys and make sure that though they are still young, that they are very talented and have great potential and get that out of them which was something Fredi The Bullpen Serial Killer Gonzalez was never able to do. I do hope we do keep our interim guy as our bench coach or something because the young guys know him and he would be good as a bench coach. I wish we wouldve kept our hitting coach but hey.

I think Bobby V would be an excellant fit for the young Marlins. He works better (gets along) with younger players rather than veteran players. Marlins have a plenty of young players on the team which he can mold into winners.
