Report: Cuban joins bidding for Rangers

The New York Post reports that Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has entered the bidding for the Rangers.

The report says Cuban has joined with former sports agent Dennis Gilbert and businessman Jeff Beck, both of whom have been involved previously in the sale process. A judge has ruled that the bankrupt Rangers, who at one point had a deal in place with a group headed by Chuck Greenberg and Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan, be put up for auction.

If Cuban's group wins the bidding, it's no assurance he'll end up with the team. Major League Baseball must approve any sale, and reportedly turned down Cuban even though he was the high bidder for the Cubs in 2008.

Report: Cuban joins bidding for Rangers

I don't see a problem. First of all this guy has a passion for winning, and will spend money wisely to do so. Secondly he is a Texas guy, he wants his team right there. As long as Mark Cuban allows Nolan Ryan to run the team and the Texas Rangers to remain where they are and come in and be the super fan he is for the mavericks, then what the hell, let him own part of the Rangers. I think Mark Cuban would be great for baseball. The Rangers need someone who has his level of passion and need to win. This could be the final piece of the puzzle they have needed.

I can understand that a lot of Cubans are actually  involved in playing for various teams , but, there is always the threat that the government would allow these players to be brought into this 'foreign' country. and made to work in the fields. Can't you see where this is leading into? Have you no shame? This is Americas game! We must appeal to our officials now before it is too late! Whats next- having Russians buy a hockey team? Is North Korea waiting to purchase the Dolphins for consumption? The world of Sports is getting smaller every day!

I just hope this whole process is done right and done fast.  It seems like it is taking forever to complete and they just need a new owner ASAP.

Yeah.. the Rangers have no problem selling tickets.. Tom Hicks has just made some really stupid decisions.  MLB won't sell to a new ownership group that wants to move the team.

I usually do not like Mark Cuban but I am a actually hoping he wins this team. If he does then the team will not get moved out of Dallas.
