Cardinals call up catcher to replace LaRue

Jason LaRue
Fallout should be trickling in today from Tuesday's bench-clearing incident between the Cardinals and Reds, as we wait to see who's hurt, who will be disciplined and who will be next to say something stupid.

Of immediate concern for the Cardinals was finding someone to step in for catcher Jason LaRue, whom the Cardinals say suffered a slight concussion and a rib injury when he was kicked by Reds starter Johnny Cueto.

"We're facing an issue with Jason," St. Louis manager La Russa said after the game. "He got clobbered in the head with their starting pitcher kicking. So he has a slight concussion and he has some facial tears there ... We'll see how that's all handled."

In the short term, it will be handled by calling up Double-A catcher Steven Hill to back up Yadier Molina. Hill, 25, is batting .280 with 22 homers and 86 RBI for Springfield.

LaRue did not go on the disabled list. To make room for Hill, right-hander Jeff Suppan, acquired by the Cardinals June 14 after being released by the Brewers, was placed on the disabled list with a groin injury. Suppan felt tightness while running the day after his Sunday start was rained out. The move is retroactive to August 1.

Nice try, but blame clearly goes to Phillips for popping off and running his trap when he had no business doing so.  Even Dusty "no championship" Baker was quoted as saying he really wished he hadn't opened his mouth.  Guys never learn that talking trash only motivates the opponent, especially when that opponent has 10 world series titles (2nd only to the Yankees), a ton of pennants, division titles, etc. all when your low life franchise hasn't won anything in 20 years.

All he has accomplished is to wake up the Cards and now we'll see just how fast the Reds collapse under Baker's horrible management style.

How can anyone predict a grown man using the same move 6 year olds use against their big brothers.  When in dobut act like your riding a bike in the air. Who cares what you could do to another person with those cleats. Watch out Reds Yadi tends to become an instant MVP candidate when emotions flare. By the looks of yesterdays game the Reds tend to become something else alltogeter.

I honest didnt know that Jason LaRue was still in the league until this so I find this really funny. Plus Carpenter kept it all going so if you think want someone to blame, blame your pretty boy.

What!  Are you 8?  Thug ass Cueto kicks like a two year old, with spikes, and the Cards are crybabies?  Did you like Molina's trot after he crushed Cueto?  I'm sure the Reds players all have big screens to watch the playoffs on.
