Jacoby Ellsbury
This doesn't sound good.

Outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury came out of Boston's game in Texas after the third inning, and the team later announced that he had "left side pain." Ellsbury collided with Texas starter Tommy Hunter in the first inning when Hunter was covering first on a dribbler up the line by Ellsbury. You can see Ellsbury flying through the air in this picture.

Ellsbury, 26, just returned August 4 after missing most of the season with broken ribs. Ellsbury and his agent, Scott Boras, accused the Red Sox of misdiagnosing the initial injury and causing his recovery to be delayed, while teammates were unhappy with Ellsbury for rehabbing away from the team.

The last thing the Red Sox or Ellsbury need is for him to have another rib injury, though it seems perfectly fitting for Boston's snakebit season. We'll update with any new information.

UPDATE: According to reporters in the postgame clubhouse, Ellsbury's injury is in the same area of his ribs as the original injury. He will see Dr. Lewis Yocum on Saturday, and manager Terry Francona termed the situation "very concerning."

UPDATE: There has been a change in plans, and Ellsbury will go to Boston to be examined, not to Los Angeles to see Yocum.

Ellsbury leaves Red Sox game with injury

Edit: Forgot to mention the Yankee player most injured and on this aging team, I'd have to give it to Posada because its been about 3 years now since his health has just deteriorated to almost nothing.

@denster--while every team does have a player who is oft-injured, the Yankees player would not be Nick Johnson. Fans and the team knew he was a risky yet cheap option for a DH role/someone to get on base and keep the line-up moving. He did the exact opposite and itll most likely stay that way. As for Ellsbury he cant be considered the clutz because almost every player on the roster has headed to the DL. Does this mean Ellsbury isnt as tantalizing a player he was sought to be, yes. The Sox are done for this season because Tampa is unrelenting and there is no help for Boston in the near future. Just make sure Youk, Pedroia and V-Mart are healthy for next season

Every team seems to have one of those players.  The Yankees have one named Nick Johnson.

Ellsbury leaves Red Sox game with injury

Ellsbury not problem; #1 problem is Beckett; he is washed up;2 pitch pitcher with  dead non moving fastball that hitters sit on and smack; 68 million for next 4 years; but they weren't willing to go an extra 10 to get Texeira;  this organization won't win in another 186 years

Ellsbury isnt the problem. Beckett and Papelbon are the problem. Plain and simple.

Ellsbury leaves Red Sox game with injury

Shocking.  Ellsbury got hurt.  That is ridiculous.  He was just about to break Ripkens record.  LOOK...this guy is one of the most if not THE MOST overrated player in the MLB.  Sure he can steal bases, but you have to get on base to steal the base.  He is turning into a big band aid in only his 3rd season.  I say the Sox need to cut their losses.  Trade him and get a average player for him because this guy is no threat at the plate at all.  The only place this guy is to be consistent is on the DL.  You are a joke JOKOBY.
