Baseball fans every should be very happy today, the greatest broadcaster in the game's history will return in 2011, as the Dodgers announced Sunday that Vin Scully will return for next season.
Scully has been working on one-year contracts since 2009 and calling all home games and games west of Coloradio. He has not made any commitment past 2011, though.
Scully will be 83 next season and it will be his 62nd season with the Dodgers, joining the Brooklyn Dodgers' broadcast team in 1950, the year after he graduated from Fordham University.
Through modern technology -- MLB.com, XM Radio and the MLB At-Bat app for smartphones -- we're lucky enough to be able to hear Scully's signature approach, friendly, but never dumbed down, no matter where you live.
Next season may be the last, so cherish it.
