Outfielder Jeremy Hermida, released by the Red Sox this week, has been signed by the Athletics and signed to a Triple-A contract, as first reported by mlbtraderumors.com.
In his first year with Boston, Hermida batted .203 in 52 games before being designated for assignment, outrighted and released. The former first-round pick, still just 26, has never managed to reach his potential, and the A's are hoping he still can.
