Jim Joyce and Armando Galarraga will reunited at Comerica Park on Friday. Galarraga is scheduled to start Friday's game against the Orioles with Joyce behind the plate.
It will be Joyce's first trip to Comerica Park since the Cleveland series three months ago when Joyce, umpiring at first, cost Galarraga a perfect game.
"I would rather be behind the plate than stand there at first base and have to relive that visualization of being at first base with him pitching," Joyce told the Detroit Free Press . "It's better for me and my psyche to be behind the plate that night. AS a matter of fact, I'm actually looking forward to it."
Joyce worked the plate the day after his gaffe and Galarraga brought out the lineup card to him before the game. The two shook hands and Joyce apologized.
The two also appeared together at the ESPY awards in July.
