Justin Morneau Justin Morneau is unlikely to return to the Twins in time for the regular season, and the postseason is doubtful as well.

"I don't see how it can possibly happen for him," manager Ron Gardenhire told Phil Mackey of ESPN 1500 . Morneau suffered a concussion earlier this season, last playing July 7 of a season shaping up to be MVP-caliber.

In 348 plate appearances, Morneau had 18 home runs and a .345/.437/.618 line anchoring the middle of the Twins' order.

Gardenhire did say Morneau has been improving as of late, but time is simply running out.

The Twins have moved forward by slotting Michael Cuddyer in first base, shifting from right field. Jason Kubel and Delmon Young have seen increased playing time in the outfield as well while Jim Thome adds to his Hall of Fame career by receiving the bulk of starts at designated hitter.

you twins fans are morons! No one but Morneau knows what's going, do you think he doesn't want to play in the post season? Morons, he is a ball player and all players want to play and he is an excellent one at that. Some of you were the same ones who earlier want Maure (sp) gone, that would have been a good move, eh? You people don't deserve the excellent team you have!

Your team Twins fans have no room for jerks like you.  Maybe you should take a few knees to the head.

umm the dude's had like four concussions
lets scramble your brains around like that and see how well you can function
its a miracle this guy can still hold a baseball bat the right way, the amount of head trauma he's been through

The Twins have won the most games of any team since the All-Star break.  But they are definitely a much better team with him in the lineup.  If he did have a chance to play the entire season he could have 40+ homeruns.  However, Jim Thome, Cuddyer and possibly Delmon Young would not have the seasons they had.

I'm not going to lose any sleep over him not playing, but I would worry less with him in the lineup.  Maybe he can be available by mid October and the second round of the playoffs.

You are a complete moron. Do you know anything about the long-term effects of concussions? Some guys heal up quickly from them, others don't. If you think Morneau's so soft, did you see in 2008 when a ground ball popped up and shattered his nose and he didn't miss an inning? He's a tough Canadian, get your facts straight and use common sense before running your mouth.

Of course he doesn't want to play in the playoffs and possibly win a World Series.
