Cabrera's season is over

Miguel Cabrera Miguel Cabrera is officially done for the season.

An MRI shows a high ankle sprain for the Tigers' first baseman, ending his season, MLB.com's Jason Beck tweets .

Cabrera is one of the leading candidates for the American League's MVP, hitting .328/.420/.622 with 38 home runs and 126 RBI this season. He leads the league in runs (111), RBI, OBP, OPS+ (180), total bases (341) and intentional walks (32).

Cabrera hurt his right ankle Monday night when Indians catcher Luke Carlin tried to pick him off first.
