Justin Morneau The Twins have announced that Justin Morneau will not return for the postseason.

Morneau had worked out with the team the last week of the season, but manager Ron Gardenhire continually warned against reading too much into his return.

On Monday, the team made it official, saying Morneau didn't suffer any setbacks, just the team didn't want to rush him. (Via the Star Tribune's Joe Christensen on Twitter .)

Morneau didn't play since suffering a concussion on July 7 in Toronto.

UPDATE: From Christenesen , general manager Bill Smith said trying to get Morneau ready for the ALDS and World Series in two weeks would be "accelerating the process too quickly."

Morneau said he's concentrating on getting back for next season.

"If we just kind of eliminate all the question marks, hopefully when we get into November, I can get on my regular workout program, have a couple weeks off after the season's over, and get back into my program … so we're completely ready for spring training," Morneau said.

Morneau out for postseason

What kind of concussion, did he have, i have never seen someone out this long for a concussion, especially in baseball, I have watched the play over and over and I have seen harder hits in football and the guy was back in 2 weeks,  baseball is really not a contact sport so what the hell is the problem.  I have never seen anything like this.  Did he get hit in the head with a sledge hammer or what!!!  I'm not bashing Justin M or nothing, he's a beast, but how bad was this concussion!!!

Unless you've had a concussion and know how it feels, and know how long it takes to get back to normal, you have no right to comment, especially negatively.  If what a prior poster said is true and this is JMs 5th concussion, then I am not surprised at all.  The lingering effects of concussions are not a minor issue and could affect the rest of his life.  Of course the team Drs were consulted and signed off on this, it was not solely his decision.  So back off you MORONS........

this guy is a tenderfoot. the play that caused his consussion was a glancing blow at best . face it , the man is a bunny foo foo , always has been  and i guess always will be. too bad cause the Twins sure could use him. ill bet a guy like Bret Favre looks at him and just shakes his head.

Some people can't see past there hands. Justin will be back next year. A concussion is nothing to fool around with. Some people on here are so dumb  I wish I could slap the stupid out of them. Good Luck Justin. Go Twins.

Morneau out for postseason

First of all let me start by saying I am not hating on Morneau,  He is one of my favorite MLB players because a) he is also canadian, b) he is in the closest baseball market to me (Toronto is twice as far than Minny from where I live in Sask.  But I have to agree with all the negative people here.  Tough it out you pansy.  I can see if you are playing a physical sport like Football or Hockey.  Then yes a concussioon is serious.  But its baseball.  BASEBALL.  If you can play any sport with a concussion its baseball.  Stop being a pussy there Justine.  Its the playoffs and YOUR team needs YOU.  What a pathetic excuse for a star player.  Almost as bad as Revis holding out on the jets for more money, only to be injured 70% of the time.  I suppose if he got stung by a wasp or something he'd be on the 15 day DL (Assuming he isn't allergic to stings >_> )

I'm a Twins fan through and through.  Will be heading to Game 1 against the Yankees, so maybe I'm biased, but everyone needs to get a life on this.  Justin is a gamer.  It's a freaky injury, but these things can end a career.  Just ask Corey Koskie who was forced to retire and still is in pain from time to time.

I do love him, and when healthy he's a top 10 player, but I do wonder if we should trade him and just get Mauer over to 1B.  Anyway, go Frankie and go TWINS!

I totally agree. Thats a long time to be out. Compared to football players they try to get back in the next quater.
I dont know the degree of his concus. But its still baseball see the ball hit the ball. Thats what he does best hit.
Well good luck next year your Twins cant get too far without you. Wow again a whole 3 MONTHS WOW!!!!!!!

Morneau out for postseason

Good post. I just wish sports reporters would give us the complete back story when providing their expert "Fantasy analysis". Then I probably wouldn't have traded for Morneau at the All Star break!
