Relief effort won't affect Lincecum's start

Tim Lincecum Tim Lincecum's three-batter inning in Game 6 of the NLCS will not affect his start in the opening game of the World Series.

"I fully expect to make the start," Lincecum told MLB.com's Barry Bloom . "It's not like they told me to get ready for Game 1. They just said, 'Get ready for your next start.' So I think that's what they're talking about, yeah."

As if facing Roy Halladay twice in the NLCS wasn't a tall enough task, Lincecum will face Cliff Lee in the opener of the World Series on Wednesday.

Linecum is 2-1 with a 1.93 ERA in four appearances and three starts. Lincecum gave up two hits, striking out one, in one-third of an inning in Saturday's clincher. Saturday had been Lincecum's bullpen day, but he didn't throw earlier in the day in anticipation of throwing in relief in Game 6.

Relief effort won't affect Lincecum's start

I'm glad he's ready for the Series.  It made me nervous seeing him come in.  And even though the results didn't work out as Giants may have planned, the intimidation factor was huge.  Like Randy Johnson coming in a few years ago.
