Giants decline Renteria's option

Edgar Renteria The Giants have officially declined their $10.5 million option on World Series MVP Edgar Renteria.

Renteria will receive $500,000 as a buyout and is still contemplating retirement, reports Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Renteria was limited to 72 games with bicep and groin injuries, hitting .276/.332/.374 with three home runs in the regular season. However, he hit two home runs in the World Series and hit .412/.444/.765 against the Rangers, earning the MVP.
