DEA agents busted Jose Guillen's wife

Guillen When the Giants left Jose Guillen off the postseason roster, the initial thought was that he was hobbled by a neck injury and hadn't produced well down the stretch.

Then, news broke that Guillen was linked to shipments of HGH. While San Francisco maintained that they left Guillen off the postseason roster for injury reasons, the added information that Guillen was about to go down for performance-enhancement usage certainly had to make the decision easier.

Sunday, the New York Daily News reveals that DEA agents first caught wind of the shipment by tracking the supplier. They noticed that almost 50 pre-loaded syringes of human growth hormone were to be sent to one Yamel Guillen in San Francisco -- the wife of Jose.

DEA agents intercepted the package, arranged delivery and upon Yamel's signature, confronted her. She consented to a search and has since returned to the Dominican Republic.

Meanwhile, MLB's Department of Investigations is exploring whether other players were sent similar shipments, as well as investigating a second shipment that may have been sent to Guillen.

Guillen has previously been dinged for HGH usage, having reportedly purchased HGH, testosterone and other steroids from 2002-05. He was set for a 15-game suspension prior to the Mitchell Report's release, but commissioner Bud Selig announced in April of 2008 that Guillen and other players named in the report would be granted amnesty.

No such amnesty would be given this time around, and Guillen is likely looking at a suspension of 50 games, the amount one must miss on the first violation of the drug agreement. It is possible that suspension could reach 100 games provided MLB both links Guillen to a second shipment and contends that is a separate and additional violation.

Well this certainly takes away credibility from that CRUCIAL game 6 winning home run off Ryan Madson in the 8th inning, which only landed in the first row.

If the MLB penalty for a second PED violation is 100 games then isn't Guillen facing a total suspensin of 150 games (if the additional investigation described in the article yields a second violation), not 100 as the article says? 50 + 100 = 150.

Giants won fair and square. If they sign some solid bats in the off season. they could repeat as champions. Their pitching is phenomenal, but do you think they could catch lightening in a bottle twice?

Seeing how "Gutless" Guillen is hiding behind his wife to do the dirty work, why didn't he let her pinch hit for his anemic @$$ too. Perhaps Guillen is playing to show how steroids don't automatically lead to performance enhancements. Then again, maybe the Mendoza line should be lowered to the Guillen line of say .150 which this bum might hit without drugs

Hey PhillyAlchemist.  You are basically a disgruntled Phillie fan who doesn't have a clue about baseball.  Before you go and cry about the World Champion Giants smacking your Phillies and your star pitchers H2O around, go and do some research before you come on here and make a fool of yourself.  Because if you did, you would known that Cody Ross hit 24 homers with the Marlins in 2009 and had at least a dozen before the Giants picked him up.  And Brian Wilson (maybe you should again do your research and know his name) has been doing it for more than one year.  Maybe your tears of losing got in the way of you doing your research.  It's easy for a loser like you who has to come up with all kinds of excuse why your team lost, but for you to take it as far as accusing alot of the Giants players being on HGH makes you look like a sore losing fool.  Let's face facts.  The Giants beat your team because they have a better pitching staff than your team.  The Giants won the World Series because they have the best pitching staff in baseball.  Period.  It's patheic that you call yourself a baseball fan.  Really pathetic.  You should be ashamed of yourself and like I suggested, go and learn about the game before you accuse anyone of anything.  It's people like you who continue to put a black eye on the whole steriods thing regarding baseball.  Why can't you just accept that the World Champion Giants beat your team and quit trying to make excuses.  By the way, did you read that right.  WORLD SERIES CHAMPION GIANTS.
