The Dodgers have finalized the coaching staff for Don Mattingly, as reported by the Los Angeles Times, and the first-year manager will have a lot of experience to lean on.

Trey Hillman, replaced as manager of the Royals midseason, will be Mattingly's bench coach. Davey Lopes, former Brewers manager and long-time coach with the Phillies, returns to the original team he played for, taking over as first-base coach. Veteran Jeff Pentland will be hitting coach, assisted by "hitting instructor" Dave Hansen, the former pinch-hitting specialist who has been Arizona's organizational hitting coordinator.

Rick Honeycutt remains as pitching coach, the position he's held since 2006. Ken Howell is the only other holdover, staying on as bullpen coach. Former major league player and minor-league manager Tim Wallach will be third-base coach.

Dodgers announce coaching staff

Congrats to Mattingly and company for putting Trey Hillman in the position of bench coach.  Trey is an excellent baseball man and managed Columbus in the Inrernational League for the New York Yankees prior to managing the Royals.  He will nicely compliment the great experience now on the Dodgers' staff.  Not a Dodger fan, but they are going to be well coached.
