Reds might keep Rhodes, lose Cabrera

Reds general manager Walt Jocketty told the Cincinnai Enquirer he's hopeful the team can bring back reliever Arthur Rhodes, but was more doubtful about the odds of retaining shortstop Orlando Cabrera.
Cincinnati offered neither player arbitration. Rhodes made $2 million in 2010 and had a big season, while Cabrera made $2.27 million.
"In both cases, we’re interested," Reds general manager Walt Jocketty said. "But as a small-market club, you can’t risk offering them arbitration. They might accept and end up getting a lot more money.
“I talked to Arthur’s agent last night. I’m still hopeful of the getting something done. With Cabrera, there still might be a role. But I think he’s looking for more playing time than we can offer. But we left it open.”
If Cabrera does not return, Paul Janish would be the Reds' full-time starter.
