Adam Dunn Not only have the White Sox signed Adam Dunn, they're also close to re-signing Paul Konerko, Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports (via Twitter ).

Dunn's deal could be announced as soon as tomorrow, pending the physical. According to Dave van Dyke of the Chicago Tribune , the deal is worth four years and $56 million.

According to Cowley, the White Sox were late on Victor Martinez before calling the Brewers about Prince Fielder and then when that appeared unlikely, moved to Dunn.

While it seemed unlikely the White Sox could have both Dunn and Konerko, it seems they want to do just that. That would necessitate Dunn serving as a designated hitter, something he hasn't wanted to do in the past, but it does help the team's offense.

UPDATE : If the White Sox want to bring back Konerko, they may have competition from their crosstown rivals.'s Jon Heyman hears that the Cubs are in on Konerko to fill their first-base game.

-- Evan Brunell

UPDATE: In a confernece call, when asked if the White Sox had enough money to sign both Dunn and Konerko, general manager Kenny Williams said, "Not only do we have room, but it would be the ideal from our perspective." (Chicago Tribune )

White Sox add Dunn, still want Konerko

Sour Grapes from a typical Met's fan!!  By the way the White Sox won the World Serires just 5 years ago and are a heck of a lot closer to repeating than the hapless Mets.  White Sox have a GREAT pitching staff with a healthy Peavy returning and Dunn should hit close to 50 HR's on the south side.  Get over it and enjoy another 4th place in your division finish this year.

White Sox add Dunn, still want Konerko

Way to go White just added 200+ K's to your lineup and a .210 batting average.  Way to kill the speed on the bases with all those strike out/throw outs and 6-4-3 DP's.  LOL.  Ozzie will be a loudmouth as usual when Dunn strikes out in key situations, and there will be turmoil and they will fall short of the playoffs yet again.

Maybe spend some $ on some the World Champions.  Oh Well, maybe Ozzie and Kenny can have a cute show together this season profiling how they continually fall short.  Black Sox.

Way to go Dunn!!! You clearly never want to win a championship. The Mets would have given you that chance if you would have taken less money. Have fun rotting away on the south side of Chicago. Good thing Ozzie will make sure you have an interpreter because trying to decipher your press conferences is like listening to a 2 year old formulate a complete sentence.
