Braves making young pitching unavailable

Beachy The Braves have been receiving calls on their pitching surplus due to an impressive stable of young hurlers.

However, clubs have been told that Tommy Hanson, Jair Jurrjens and Mike Minor are off-limits, according to David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution . This is not a surprise, as the pitchers will represent the core of Atlanta's future rotations.

However, Brandon Beachy could be had. That doesn't exactly get anyone's heart racing, although Beachy looks like he can end up a quality pitcher with a nice career. He's more in the No. 3 starter mold however, and has yet to prove himself on the big stage so wouldn't serve as the centerpiece for a major deal. However, it's possible he could be enough to land a complementary outfielder.

Atlanta is stacked in pitching prospects. Maybe the deal wouldn't be for a fourth outfielder, but an everyday type guy? Some teams are hurting for pitching. Two prospects may land someone a little higher than a backup. B.J. Upton may be available. Atlanta was in talks with Milwaukee for Lorenzo Cain who could play centerfield every day. OR, with milwaukee's need for pitching, it could be possible to move a prospect and a present starter (Lowe?) for someone like Corey Hart?

Pretty obvious that only the 2nd tier guys would be unavailable. Parr I'm pretty sure is close to off the radar. Beachy hasn't proven himself, and was put into some pretty tough end of the season situations due to injury. We definitely could have used another healthy vet last year.

Prospects to me, are always iffy, do we really want to deal Beachy for a 4th outfielder? I dunno if that's worth it.
