Rangers make offer to Lee

Rangers owner Chuck Greenberg just called an unscheduled teleconference, leading to speculation a major announcement was forthcoming. Had the Rangers signed Lee? Were they giving up after hearing his latest demands? Twitter was atwitter with anticipation.

Turns out it was nothing. OK, not nothing, but nothing unexpected. Greenberg said, via Anthony Andro of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram , that the Rangers made an offer to Lee, and that Lee is "weighing options." Greenberg had traveled to Lee's Arkansas home Thursday to meet with the pitcher and agent Darek Braunecker. It's unknown whether this is the Rangers' first formal offer, but it's their first acknowledgement of one.

Greenberg would give no details about the length or terms of the offer, but said he was "optimistic." The Yankees are believed to have made Lee a seven-year offer earlier in the day.

VIDEO UPDATE: Where will Cliff Lee sign?

Rangers make offer to Lee

"CC's wife has been talking to Lee's wife and has already picked out a house that would be nice for thenm down the street from where CC lives. maybe the ace in the hole....."

Perhaps the single most retarded thing I've ever read on these boards.   Who the hell moves to a new city and let's a friend pick out a house for them?   They may let CC and his wife tag along to help them look, but I'm thinking the Lees would much rather pick out their own house.   Where do you people get this crap?

I think he will make a decision that works best for his family. CC's wife has been talking to Lee's wife and has already picked out a house that would be nice for thenm down the street from where CC lives. maybe the ace in the hole.....

No good ever comes from a pitcher going to the Rockies.  Laughing

If he had a set, he'd re-sign with Texas and tell the Yankees to go pound sand.

TetonCowboy: If Lee had a set and was willing to take a chance, he'd sign with the Rockies.

If he has any common sense and his choice is between the Rangers, who went to the World Series this year, the Yankees, who have won 27 World Series, or the Rockies, while I can't say which team he will choose, I can tell you which team he won't choose.

Funny. But Rockies didn't make him an offer. You can't go somewhere if you don't have an offer.

Dude, if you want people to read your posts, then learn the differences between 'their, there, and the're.'
