The Rays, seeking to rebuild their stripped bullpen, are set to add former National Joel Peralta for $900,000, according to ESPN.com's Buster Olney.
Peralta was brought up by Washington in late June and put up great numbers, including a 2.02 ERA in 39 appearances with nine strikeouts and 1.7 walks per nine innings. But the Nationals non-tendered the 35-year-old, making him a free agent.
This looks like a nice signing for the Rays, an undervalued player they can afford.
