Yankees to sign lefty reliever Feliciano

Pedro Feliciano The Yankees may have found the left-handed reliever they've been looking for in Pedro Feliciano.

Sports Illustrated 's Jon Heyman tweets the team is close to a deal withe Feliciano for two years at $4 million per year, plus an option for the a third year.

Feliciano, 34, led the National League in appearances each of the last three seasons with the Mets, including a career-high 92 appearances last season. He was 3-6 with a 3.30 ERA, striking out 56 batters in 62 2/3 innings. He gave up 66 hits and walked 30. Left-handers hit .211/.297/.276 against him last season.

The signing would continue the trend of multi-year deals for middle relievers, something that's good if your a middle reliever or the agent of a middle reliever. As for the teams that sign middle relievers to multi-year deals… well, nobody held a gun to your head, right? If so, maybe you should call the police.

Yankees to sign lefty reliever Feliciano

Yankees need a power-hitting outfielder, and do not have that in Granderson and Gardner. Surprised they're keeping Gardner at all. I figured they go for a healthy Sizemore from the Indians and bat him behind Granderson.

Yankees to sign lefty reliever Feliciano

Yankees will still be very scary...  Texiera and AROD will bounce back with better years than last year and Gardner and Cano continue to improve.  Cano has the tools to be simply an awesome player.  I don't think Petite will be able to go a full year.... I think he's taking the script from Roger's last few years and will go for the 2nd half next season.  They will still sign and/or trade for another starter.  The Red Sox trades have made it an interesting winter.... something to hold us over until spring training starts!  Feliciano is as steady as they come....  and knows how to play in the New York area.  Great signing!

Now if they can get a couple more decent relievers and a solid #3 starter they will be in pretty good shape. I don't think people are giving the Yankees enough credit as a whole. Their lineup is stacked and pitching has always been the big ? mark during the playoffs. With CC, Hughes, and hopefully Pettite, they need 1 more arm that will be reliable in playoff time and they will make a run.

Pettite ???
Burnett - until he implodes

That looks OK to me.

Yankees to sign lefty reliever Feliciano

This is a better signing then people realize. As a die hard Met fan...(no it isn't easy)....this is huge for the Yanks. They have always looked for a consistent lefty and trust me they got it in Feliciano. He is no push over against rightys and takes the ball everytime, as you can see with his appreances. Might have overpayed a little but it's the Yankees, 4 million a year over three years is like the leauge minimum for them. Good luck Feliciano and thanks for the time with the Mets, you never complained and always did your thing.
