O's and Guerrero dancing around the inevitable

Vladimir Guerrero Can Vladimir Guerrero just go ahead and sign with someone so that we can get it over with? He's the last DH to sign and the Orioles are the only real team with interest in the aging slugger.

Anyway, the latest is from Buster Olney of ESPN who tweets : "O's have their offer on table; Vlad is looking for more." He also said the next 48 hours will be vital. Could that be a threat from the Orioles to pull their offer and go ahead with Luke Scott back at DH at Felix Pie and Nolan Reimold in the outfield? Scott was good last year as a DH, so the Orioles' decision with Guerrero depends more on their comfort with Pie and Reimold.

Guerrero's choice is pretty much down to the Orioles, who have been offering a reported $3-5 million one-year contract. The Tigers' Dave Dombrowski may speak for the rest of the American League, when told the Detroit News yesterday : "There's not a fit for us. We're not involved with that at all and haven't been."

The only other team with a real opening for a full-time DH could be the Royals, but it's not as if they're going to be handing out big money or multi-year deals. The Blue Jays could return Guerrero to Canada, but they appear to be set with Edwin Encarnacion and Adam Lind at DH and just got one big-money player off the books and are unlikely looking to add another.

As an O's fan, i am NOT interested in bringing Vlad to Baltimore. We've got enough old bats in the line up as is. I'd much rather see Reimold and Pie duke it out for left field. Pie was looking real good last year before his injury, and Reimold has shown signs of becoming a very solid pro as well.

Brains in Toronto...thats a good one!  Remember Halladay but forget Burnett not that they were playing for peanuts before leaving.  They won't pay today or ever.  Laughable what this off season has turned to.  Can't wait to get to it March 31 and everyone has signed.

Not much baggage comes with Big Daddy.  5mil is chump change for the Yanks.  Languishing in Baltimore during MLB season is their national pastime, not Guerreros.  Detroit...nobody is a fit up there..K.C. same as Baltimore, Toronto double dittos!  Talks stalled... I think Brian Ca$hman is on the other line..hold please we will get back to you.

Why not sign with the Braves and be the right fielder? The Braves desperately need a right handed bat to go with Uggla and compete with the Phillies. His defense in left should be adequate and their offense would be in the top 3 in the National league. We can afford 5 million along with incentives for this . He is still an rbi machine. This lineup could be really good from an offensive point of view.

This should be a no-brainer in Toronto. Any time your plan at DH includes Edwin Encarnacion in the mix, you have a HUGE problem. Vlad would be a rather obvious improvement there. Spend the money, AA. It'd be nice to sign a big name, not that Octavio Dotel and Edwin Encarnacion won't net you millions in jersey sales. Or the Jays can just compile prospects and set their sights on 2015.
