While it's unlikely to gather the headlines that Albert Pujols' contract situation is garnering, Phillies manager Charlie Manuel has set his own deadline for contract negotiations. Manuel is signed through 2011."I think once the season starts, I don't want to talk about my contract," Manuel told Philadelphia reporters, including the News Journal 's David Hale.
Manuel says he's not disappointed or upset that he doesn't have a deal.
"I went through a situation a few years ago the same way," Manuel said. "Every now and then you might think something, but at the same time, you stay focused on where you're going. You stay busy and if you do your job right, things will work out."
Manuel is entering his seventh season as the Phillies manager and has gone 544-428 in Phialdelphia with two pennants and a World Series title.
